Oh My Word! I am so motivated now! I want to learn to make some of those beautiful patterns.

And in looking through the pictures, I think I see a better way to warp my loom.... Now to just make that frame setup...

cmerun12 has the same book I have, "A Willful Pursuit of Complexity" which does seem to go into some of how to design patterns like this. It's not a "pattern" book so much as a "how to figure it out yourself and design what you want to design" book, and I'm .... less good with those. I've worked 1 sample band out of that book and "will get back to it someday"

My current loom setup isn't so great if there's a thread missing from the hole. It's only the tension of the thread in the holes that keeps the cards suspended in midair. Take a thread away and cards "fall". The looms in the photos on this website are so different, the cards actually rest on the bottom board. I would imagine that's almost required to do this technique.

Have you seen "chip clips" that look like this? I found a few and they have become indespensible aids in weaving! They clip around thread very easily and keep the threads from getting tangled. I've used a mere half-dozen of them to facilitate moving in-process 3-yard-long projects between my "good" inkle loom ( ... )

I'll have to find me some of those.

Yeah, my loom is also a suspension one (love gsharper13) but I need a better, rather a more consistent measurement tool when warping my loom.

When you look at the looms they are using - it reminded me of when you tied me to your bookcase.

Indeed!

But How Do We Learn To Do This?!?!?!

Perhaps if I wasn't at work I'd have a better idea, but for now.... I wanna LEARN!!!

I went and saw the pretties! [and wow, were they pretty!}

I amused myself with the "oh, that's a simple, pretty shawl", and the "OMG, GORGEOUS sweater!! Need to find what cable pattern that is..." to "oh look, they're putting the large stitch holders to use holding those square things together!" [and then the "and again, but a different style!"]

The snow pictures were great, too!

Looks like it'd be a fun time....
