be nice to people, or how I went to Detroit in Style

Yesterday was by far the most agrivating travel day I've ever had.

It started at nine when I got a call saying they canceled my flight and booked me the next day. So I call the airlines and get a flight out of midway, be it this flight is 7 hours earlier than my first flight, but a flight. So I quickly finish up the stuff at work rush home andfinish getting ready and run off to midway. Get on the plane it goes to taxi, and the nose wheel won't turn. We sit on the taxi way for 15 minutes til they tow us back to our terminal spot. They then go to trying to figure out whats wron, sit there another half hour til they give up and tell us to get off the plane. We all leave the plane and wait for them to tell us if the plane is ever goig to leave. After the crowd stood around, and I hear some girl arguing with her fiance(personally I would have broken off the engagement if I was him) they tell us they have a part on the way and the plane will probably be off in 2 hours. Five minutes later they tell us it is canceled.

So all these people rush off to the ticket counter and when I get there I"m 10th in line(I think everyone else went to get their bags). I notice 7 of the 10 are together so I figure, really I'm like 4th, should be up fron in no time. 2 and half hours later the group of 7 finally get done and end up with the tickets they had automatically put them in the moment the flight was canceled.(in the end one was about to hyperventalate, 2 was about to cry, 1 was planning to go to the hotel bar to pickup guys, and the other 2 went off in a huff an the last just disappeared).

I get to the counter and I could tell the ticket agent was a bit frazzeled. Give her my ticket and ID, and she goes typing away. She stares at the screen for a while and types and stares and types and stares some more. I tell her it can't be that bad, she kind of mumbles its not, then I ask if its just that she is fed up with us, she half smiles and then starts asking about my ticket. I explain I was rerouted earlier from ohare and she stares andn types, I guess they either forgot me during the rebook or they stuck me back on the canceled flight. I figured this was bad, because I had heard what the others were getting. The only option they had for one person was to fly to minesota at 4 the next day adn fly out of minesota to detroit at 9 getting to detroit around 12:01 tuesday. witha return flight Tuesday night I was ready to get my ticket refunded and explain the screw up to my boss the next day. So while working theis all out in my head she stops typing and hands me a ticket. and quietly says

your flight is at 6:05.
tomorrow morning?
no
Tomorrow night
no 6:05 tonight
really?
Yes don't tell anyone

So I walk away, call the hotel to rebook, and head off to get to security since it was after 5 already and the plane board at 5:35. While waiting in line at the security check I look down at the ticket and realize it says first class.
