Flood of Ideas

I have all of these ideas.  They fly through my brain at a breakneck pace, circling around my perceptions of the world, trying to find a place to light.  Ideas about love, equality, gender, sex, relationships, peace, an end to war, politics, conquering fear, releasing all of our inherent power to effect the world for the better ( Read more... )

"In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth becomes a revolutionary act." -- George Orwell

I AM actively trying to change it, hun. The method I am using is simply different, and less obvious, than most would use.

This has been constant form of miscommunication between the two of us.

No, I am not going out and campaigning directly against the forces I see. That would not only be unproductive, it would be pointless.

The method I am using to change the world is far more Confucian:

"To put the world right in order, we must first put the nation in order; to put the nation in order, we must first put the family in order; to put the family in order, we must first cultivate our personal life; we must first set our hearts right." -- Confucius

The beginning of changing the world for the better is not to try and take on the world and force it to your will, it is to change yourself, to overthrow the controls of the world within you, and then help others to do the same. You cannot change the world from the top down, it has to go from the bottom up.

I must change myself first. As Ghandi said, "Be the change that you want to see in the world." This is what I am currently working on.

Further, stating the problem is the first step to solving it. Tell me you don't see what I see, and we have nothing further to speak about. However, I am fairly sure that you DO see at least some of the same things.

And I DO propose a solution, it is simply not the solution most think of when they contemplate change.

If I can overthrow the controls within myself that the "powers that be" want in place in me, and help even one other person to do the same, I have changed the world. The seeds are planted for others to do the same, the capability is proven to work.

Changing the world is not a matter of the lone hero taking on all the Gods and Titans at once. It is building out from yourself a community of like minded people who believe, and expanding outward until the single drop becomes a tidal wave that cannot be stopped, or ignored.

"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has." -- Margret Mead

I am content to be the pebble that starts the avalanche, as opposed to the avalanche itself.

"The first principal of nonviolent action is that of noncooperation with everything humiliating." -- Cesar Chavez

Simply put, hun, the way I believe is simple. By not conforming, by refusing to be blind to what I see, and by refusing to allow those that wish to control me to do so, I have already won, I have already changed the world for the better. By encouraging others to do the same, one by one, I AM doing my part to change things, one heart and mind at a time.

I am planting seeds, hun. That is my job, and my purpose.

By refusing to use the same methodology as those I oppose, I have won the moral high ground. I accepted a long time ago that I would not be the one to change things from within a system stacked against me.

"The opposite of war isn't peace, it's creation." -- Mark, from Rent

Lastly, I believe in the power of story, art, and music to effect change. By creating stories and music that spread my message, I am actively trying to change the world.

Gonna have to continue in a new comment:)
