White Collar fanfic!

Yes. I know. I really, really shouldn't, considering all the other things I need to get written. Buuut... I've been fighting a terribly depressing bout of writer's block, and White Collar has eaten my brain. This is the result.

This started out as a nice little self-contained story idea nefhiriel forced persuaded me to try in order to get myself writing ( Read more... )

This was wonderful, thank you so much for writing this (even if it wasn't my prompt). This'll definitely go in my Memories. Also, aftermath would be awesome! But I can totally sympathize with not wanting to write hospital stuff because that's exactly where I'm stuck on my own story for someone over at collarcorner.

I'm so glad that you enjoyed it - thanks for commenting! :D As a very-much-newbie fan I've been greatly enjoying the work of other authors in the fandom (yours particularly so!), so it's great fun to be able to give back, just a little.

I'd love to get the aftermath written, and hopefully soon while I'm on my current roll of 500-1000 words a day. I've been doing a bit of further research this afternoon, and I think I'll be able to pretty well avoid the hospital, though a bit of fudging or glossing over treatment may be required. *g* LOL I'd think writing hospital stuff would come more naturally, between my dad being a doctor (I've many times accompanied him when he went in for hospital rounds), my brother's cancer, and my mom's various illnesses - it'd surely be a matter of writing what I know. But I tent to get... really bored when it comes to writing it, for some reason. XD

Oh, you're doing great in the new fandom. And I'm flattered that you like my stories. Giving back is great, isn't it? By now I almost find it more satisfying somehow to write for prompts.

As for the hospital stuff, do you know the comm whumpers_guide? I was having so much trouble with the hospital part of my own story, so eventually I posted my questions and issues there. And I had a lot of feedback, which greatly helped me in overcoming my hurdles. I've been continuing to write that story ever since because now I know how to approach things.

There is something particularly satisfying in writing something that you know at least one person is looking for. Partly because it gives a little more defined end goal and purpose than just writing for oneself, maybe?

Ooo, yes, I am familiar with the Whumper's Guide community. That's a great idea. I've been having a bit of trouble with some of the research - most of the information involves getting to the hospital immediately, rather than any lesser aftereffects. XD

Thank you! I'm so glad you like it! :D

I've got a good start on the follow-up now, and I think I know pretty well how I'm going to work it all out. So hopefully it shouldn't be too long before I can get it up!

Woot! Loved it! *glomps you* thank you so, so much for this. It was just what I wanted - naughty anklet, Neal in peril, Peter looking our for him and saving him. Friendship and banter. Awesome, awesome, awesome :D

And I highly encourage a follow up story. Doesn't have to be a hospital scene. I'm not a fan or writing hospital scenes myself - at least where White Collar is concerned (don't know why since I love infirmary scenes in SGA). I usually just skip to Neal being home and Peter (and sometimes El) dropping by to take care of him.

But mostly I just want to see you write more for this fandom :D

:D Oh, I'm so happy it was satisfying, and you liked it! LOL, writing it was fun, but I'll admit posting was an exercise in nervousness, particularly with the combination of new fandom and it having been a while since I've posted anything. *g*

The follow-up is now underway - and coming along well, I think. \o/ I'm beginning to suspect that it's going to rival this one for length, because I have no actual ability to control the length of my stories... but ah well. If the ideas are there, why not let them out to play, I guess? ^.^

Heh, what is this "length control" you speak of? ;) I swear I'm lucky that most of my one-shots don't end up as novels (not for lack of trying)... or under a thousand words. I've come to realize that length just sort of happens, and resistance of it is futile ;)

LOL. True, that. *g* Though I've found I can usually finish things faster if I can at least delude myself into thinking it'll be short.... I hate to leave a story unfinished, but I have issues with endurance for long ones. XD

Given my current writing roll, though, I don't think finishing quickly should be too much of an issue, even given unplanned story sprawl. Today alone I started two other WC fics, in addition to getting a bunch more written on it. Blast you, plot bunnies! *shakes fist*
