From August 18-23, I was at Disease camp [Camp Oasis] in PA. It started out kinda dull, but all turned around in the end. YAY FOR CAMP! [By the way, be prepared for about a 5 page entry]
CAMP OASIS![what a gay name, by the way]
Thursday[8/18] Woke up at around 6:45 AM to finish packing, and to get to Columbia mall [the bus stop] by 8. Ended up getting there around 8:30, and waiting around til about 10 for the bus to get there. After getting the mini-physical which consisted of a lice check, taking your temperature, etc, got on the bus. Sat with Amanda, and caught up on the past year and also slept until we got to camp. [About a 4-5 hour drive] Suprisingly, we were one of the first busses there, we're usually the last, and that was cool. After waiting around to go up from the parking lot to the actual camp, we made our way up the huge hill [the camp is basically all hills]. Luna started running like a madwoman down the hill screaming, so i started screaming and running up, and we hugged and screamed and it was cute. Did the same thing with Cyndi, Jill, and Dean [the music/entertainment guy who i love, this is also where he told me the Synchronized Swimming part 2 would occur], and then we made our way to the cabin to put some stuff down, then to Ga-Ga where I spotted Lukie. Gave some more hugs and such, and then when Ga-Ga got boring, we went up to mini-golf with some other people. After everyone got to camp, we got our luggage, and started unpacking. The older LIT [Leaders in Training instead of Councelors in Training this year] girls were in Cabin 37 again, but of course, as soon as we were basically all unpacked, Chris [one of the leaders] came in and told us that we had to change cabins with the guys, because theirs didnt have enough beds. Since about half us us were on our period, we all got really emotional and pissed, and it was no good. But the anger subsided after about a day. But now we were in Cabin 33 [still referred to ourselves as 37], and we now had only 2 bathrooms and 2 showers for 16 girls. It was no good. After unpacking once more, we had a little "discussion" with some more of the leaders, and Tony, one of the guys in charge of the Adventure course. It was terrible, because basically all Tony did was accuse us of everything before anyone actually did anything. And we also learned not to gossip, but to give "feedback." Feedback is bullshit, by the way. After this, we went to the pool, where i saw some more people and said hey. I also jumped in with my watch, which was not waterproof, and it broke - so i had no watch for the rest of the week. Oh well, no biggie. Anyway, after this, we went to dinner - where we got our first real taste of this year's fabulous food. What a joke, oh well - i brought my suitcase full of food for this exact reason. After dinner and such, we had these "Cabin/Team building things" which were pretty gay. I basically stayed with Sean [my 15 year old lover] all night, and that was ok. After that, we went back to our cabins for "bed," but the LITs stayed out on porches and on the basketball cour. I also made my behind the back 3-pointer on my 2nd try this year!! Much improvement from last year lol.
Friday[8/19] Today it rained, which was not fun, but it improved after a little bit. After breakfast and such, we all went into the Canteen to have Dean sing to us and stuff, and the CITs all did the Jig-A-Lo on the stage - something we were all quite excited for. We had an assigned activity day, during the time where we were supposed to go to the Adventure Course, Luna and I stayed with Dean in the canteen and helped him choreograph the Synchro routine. It was sooo much fun. After that, we went to Arts and Crafts in the morning. After lunch, we had a break thing, where most of us slept. After our naps, we went to Cooking, where we made pretzels, smoothies, brownies, and rice crispy treats, which were all quite good. After this, we were supposed to go to the pool, but since it was raining, they closed the pool. Kind of bad news because we were supposed to have a Luau in the pool that night, but that ended up being in some covered place that I don’t remember the name of. The boys all decorated it, and then we were all assigned to different areas. Luna and I [Luna and Lena - it was quite cute] were at the Tattoo booth from 7.30-8.00, and then we went around and danced and things. So much fun. Since they decided to be jerks and take away our actual dance [most of us were very angry], this Luau was a smaller version of it. However, there was no DJ, and all of the songs came from Chris’s iPod. Oh well, it wasn’t that bad. I danced with Lukie, Sean, some of the CITs, Scott eventually, and some little kid in Scott’s cabin [Scott was a counselor this year] who came up to me with the whole “Did it hurt? ‘Did what hurt?’ When you fell out of heaven” pick-up line. Ridiculous, but Luna and I eventually made a sandwich out of him; I think that made his life. After the Luau, we had Synchro practice, which was very fun. After doing random things on the porch before bed, such as dancing and singing like losers, we went to bed. Fun day.
Saturday[8/20] Today it rained again, the nasty drizzling stuff, but only in the morning. We all met “Chief Loadocrap” in the morning to psych us out about Color Wars and give us the history. He decided it would be cool to kick me on his way out. It wasn’t very nice though. I can’t remember what our assigned activity things were, but I do remember doing tie-dye, going to the golf driving range and making a complete ass of myself along with Lukie and Jake, another 13 year old - we had much fun: “Wal-mart is the country club for poor people, bitch.” and going to yoga - I was partners with Sean, and I kicked him in the face or something doing one of the poses. Haha I enjoyed it though. At night, we had casino night - which was pretty much gay. I wore the same exact outfit as I did last year, which I found really funny. After stealing millions of dollars worth of casino chips, and beating all the little kids [which was hilarious - but I gave them my chips in the end], Sean and I were going crazy. I was kinda upset about some stuff, so we talked for a while, and then I went and jumped on the moon bounce, which made me happy. We also had Synchro practice, which was fun. That night though, I cried to Luna for like an hour or two, but it cleared my head, which was very good. I fell asleep very easily that night.
Sunday[8/21] Sunday was COLOR WARS! I do not have any idea why I got so into it, but oh man was I psyched. I woke up and had the blue bandana on the end of my bed, and I was awake and energized in like… .01 sec. I even war-painted my face. Yay for blue face paint in camouflage form :). After breakfast, we went into the canteen and split up into our different teams, after a visit from some guy from Asia or something. [Dean] So Luna, Lukie, Sean, and other way cool people were on my team, and it was awesome. We all signed up for different parts of the Apache Relay things - I was part of the 20-person relay. It was very fun. So after this, we all went back to the cabin so those of us that hadn’t changed into our blue outfits could do so. So the schedule of color wars was: Tug-o-war, more games, Counselor basketball game, Ga-Ga, Pool, Apache Relays. After completing everything but the Apache Relays, the Blue team [my team] was kicking some serious ass. The people decided, however, that it was far too hot to have the relays, so they would be on Monday. Sunday night though, we had pool time. At the pool, I was with Luna, and then Lukie came in. Earlier in the day, Lukie messed up his foot at Ga-Ga by stepping on a rock. He’s an idiot sometimes. It was cute though, because I carried him into dinner, and gave him a piggy-back ride back. But yeah, at the pool, I don’t remember if it was around this time, or earlier, Luna and I were educating him about certain things, focusing on sexual stuff, and at some point, I gave him a kiss on the cheek. Luna was like, “is that all you have for him!?” I gave her a look, mainly because Lukie is 13, but what the hell, I kissed him on the lips. This was the first of like..10 of the week. It was all good, until he started claiming that I made out with him, and at that point I got angry, because I’m 17, and there is NO way that I’d make out with a 13 year old lol. Anyway, later there was a campfire. After the campfire, the CITs had movie/pizza night in the Canteen. We watched Hitch - it was an ok movie, at least the parts that I saw were ok. We also decided to pull some pranks on the boys cabin [33]. Our counselor, Cheryl, had gone out and gotten 2 bags of shaving cream, which we used to dominate the boys cabin. However, we only got about 5 cans done before one of the guys saw us and ratted us out. The boys then TP’d our cabin, and we had a shaving cream fight - where I got some in my eye and was blinded for about 10 minutes. After washing it out and being pissed, we had Synchro practice from 11-12pm, which made things better.
Monday[8/22] Today, us CITs got to sleep in till about 9:15, which was very good, because we stayed up till about 2 the night before. After eating breakfast [which consisted of bagels, muffins, and donuts] on our porch, we went to yoga, which was very calming and good. I highly enjoyed it, esp. all the moves with Luna. Hahaha quite fun. After yoga, we had the Apache Relays, cheer contest, and banner displays for Color Wars. Blue beat Red so bad in the relays, lost the cheer contest, which was obvious because ours sucked, but won the banner. I totally lost my voice from Color Wars because I was one of the team captains, and was screaming like a banshee the whole time [of Sunday as well as Monday]. In the end, Blue Tsunami won by about 250 points, which was obvious because blue is clearly better than red! So overall, it was quite fun. After color wars, we had lunch, and after lunch we had a break. During the break, we had our Synchro dress rehearsal, only out of the pool, because we didn’t want any one besides us to see it. After dinner, the idiot boys of cabin 33 decided to pull more pranks on us. It was so unbelievably stupid though. They decided to cover our stairs to the cabin, front and back, with Vaseline and peanut butter, put fishing wire right after the stairs [I guess their idea was that we’d have trouble getting up the stairs, not notice the fishing wire, trip over that, slide back down the stairs from the Vaseline and peanut butter, and crack our skulls open], cover the outside of the deck with Vaseline - so we couldn’t jump up onto the deck, duct-tape the door shut, and put Vaseline on the door handle. Very idiotic, mainly because they couldn’t figure out how to get it off. The idiots tried pouring a bucket of water down the stairs to wash it all off. Too bad Vaseline and peanut butter are oil based, so it just bubbled up and bounced off. Boys are so stupid. Whatever. After that, we had to get into our SPICE GIRLS!!! outfits [Me (baby spice), Luna (posh spice), Cyndi (scary spice), Kelli (ginger), and Cathleen (sporty spice)] for the cabin skits. We were sooo into it, and it was amazing. We all looked SOOOO crazy, I loved it very much. After we did our Wannabe song, and I stayed for Lukie’s “I see you baby, shakin’ that ass” skit, all the members of the Synchro team went up to the pool to get ready for the performance. We had one practice before the rest of the camp got there, and it was amazing. After that, the camp started coming up, and so all the lights were off, and it was freeeezing because we had just been in the pool, which was warm, and it was colder outside. Yoga breaths came in handy at that point lol. As soon as the whole CCFA camp was on the hill outside of the pool, we started our Synchro routine - which was a combination of “Eye of the Tiger,” “We Will Rock You,” and “Bohemian Rhapsody.” It. Was. Fucking. Unbelievable. The entire camp loved it, so much in fact, that we did an encore of the whole thing. Crazyness, I know. But it was sooo much fun. After that was all done, we went back to our cabins and changed into warmer clothes. I went up to Scott’s cabin, because I wanted to clear some stuff up with him, and that was good in the end. Afterwards, when I went back down to my cabin, all the cool CITs were on our porch, and we just tore it all up. Singing and dancing like crazy, signing shirts, massaging, etc. After being told to be quiet and go to bed, the Cabin 37 ladies stole some of the guys’ boxers, and hung them on the flagpole. CASA DE: TRES TRES! You know how we do ;). After this, I was beat, and I went to bed around 3. It was a crazy night, and an awesome way to finish off camp.
Tuesday[8/23] Tuesday was the last day, and it was verrrry sad. It sucks leaving, even though it’s only a 5-day camp. It felt like it went by so slow, and it sucks that I live far away from people. But after breakfast, I ate with Scott and Lukie, and signing more shirts, and going into the Canteen one last time [my very. last time as a camper] we all had to say goodbye. I gave Lukie and Sean one last kiss, hugged and cried to a lot of people, and we all went to the bus. It was very sad. After the bus-ride home, I got picked up by Dad and got KFC [only for the mashed potatoes lol] and then, slept for about 18 hours haha. Camp was soo much fun, and I have sooo many awesome memories. I LOVE ALL OF MY CROHNIES!!!!!!!! We will get together soon!

This week was fucking unbelievable. All the friends that I have had the entire time I went, the new friendships made, the images seen, the pranks played, the true bonding - I could never have imagined that is what could come out of this disease. I used to think all Colitis did to me was put me in an inescapable hellhole that no one could understand. But now, in a wierd way, I'm so truly thankful that I have it - if I didn't, I would never have been able to meet the people that I met at camp. I love you all so much, I don't know where I would be without you in my life.
To all my Crohnies: A memory lasts forever, never does it die. True friends stay together, and never say goodbye. I LOVE YOU ALL SOOO MUCH!!!
