Blood No More 7/22/04
I can feel it running through my veins
Molten steel slithering down each passage.
It’s heavier than blood, and much more painful.
With every beat of my heart I can feel it pounding,
Like plumbing ready to burst.
It’s late in the day when it gets to you most,
I can feel the metallic liquid aching to rip
Right out of my body.
Like boiling lead poured down your throat,
You know it doesn’t belong, that it shouldn’t be,
Yet are helpless to deny its presence.
Get this alien fluid out.
I will rip the very veins from my arm, one by one,
Dangling before my exposed flesh,
If only to escape this torture
For one fleeting moment.
