Well, I haven't seen It's a Wonderful Life; what it's more, my only reference from that movie is that joke from The Simpsons, but I do have some favorites holiday-themed movies. Probably my fondest Christmas movies are Home Alone (1 and 2, because the rest, argh). Maybe it is because Christmas isn't the best holiday for me (far from it), but Home Alone shows what a real family gathering is (well, as real as my family anyway) , and maybe because it's more about a self-discovery thing, just like the one Kevin has to do in both. I can really relate to that. And in the end, it really showed what it's Christmas about: being around those you care about, and forgetting for a while how can we screw others (sadly a thing a lot of families forget too often unless something drastic happens like a lost boy or someone's death).
And incidentally, I did have for years that wish of being on my own for just one Christmas (which now I had; yeah, BEST Xmas ever! :D). Oh, and lets not forget about the massive amounts of fun in that movie, if there's a movie that makes me laugh everytime, its those two.
writer's block,
