so, there was a fire on our floor on wednesday.
pretty scary.
our resident adviser bought all the boys water guns so they decided to soak us. so we tried to soak them. next thing we know we are running down 9 flights of stairs.
they thought it was an exit sign making this buzzing noise. they even called maintenance to come look at it. 15 minutes later, lacey said "uh... i think that noise is coming from inside the room." right as she said that, smoke started pouring over the top of the door. our very subtle and mellow resident adviser started screaming at us "GET OUT, GET THE FUCK OUT! RUN RUN RUN!" so we did. as we were running down the stairs, maddie was coming up the elevator because she heard there was a fire & wanted to grab some stuff. somehow she slipped past the RA's and opened her door to find her bed on fire. brian (boy's RA) pulled her out, shut her door and they both ran downstairs.
we went around the side of the building and we could see an orange glow coming from inside one of the rooms, then all of a sudden the flames poured out of her window reaching the top of the building.
she lost everything.
luckily the flames didnt spread to the other rooms, but a couple girls next door have water damage to their computers and other things. the rest of the 450 whitney hall residents were let back in around 1am. us, however, were homeless for a couple of days with nothing but a change of clothes soaked and cold from the water fight earlier. me, nadia, tara, and becca stayed at matt's apartment. when we went back the next morning they told us we are going to have to move out. our side of the hall was perfectly fine, besides a wet carpet but it is considered to be 'toxic.' so, they dispersed us among the other floors into separate rooms. i now have new roommates, kelly & devon. none of know quite what to do with ourselves, we cant just go hang out in our lobby when we are bored, now we actually have to go find eachother. everyone was emotional and tons of drama started in the past few days. so, i am now home. glad to get away from it all. i'm still living out of a suitcase for the moment, but we should be able to get all of our stuff out on monday.
man this sucks.
