... but, I've been adventuring in the kitchen again - using what was on hand to make something out of nothing...
I have a few packages of bacon that are barely edible fatty.
I have one package of chicken left.
I have a half gallon of milk... in a household that doesn't drink milk.
Sooo... I decide to make some variation of a Chicken
Carbonara.
Step one, chop bacon, and fry until the fat is mostly liquefied, strain off and then set it on a stack of paper towels. Once it's cooled, fold the paper towels around the fresh, chewy bacon bits and press them into crumbles.
Step two, cook chicken in stock. Remove fully cooked chicken and shred.
Step three, add rice and shredded chicken to chicken stock. Allow to thicken to a fine mush.
Step four, take nearly useless milk - some butter, corn starch, salt and pepper - make white sauce. Correction... make dazzlingly creamy (despite 1% milk), tasty white sauce.
Step five, add bacon to white sauce, whisking occasionally as it cools and thickens.
Step six, stir creamy, bacon laced white sauce in with rice and chicken.
