I've worked out why I tend not to do well in essay-style exams. It's because I get to the venue and I don't care (I'm never as stressed as i should be for exams), and during the exam I have to stop myself from making terribly informal, joke-y little comments, and I don't always catch myself. (I made myself erase "evil Roman overlords" in my exam today. I was proud of myself, but rather sad.)

I don't know. I guess I like to think the people who mark my exams have a sense of humour and don't mind students joking around a bit in their essays. Yeah... seems like they do mind that. Ah well. At least I have fun.
