Mornings are for falcons

Shaping up to be a tough morning. I’ve lost my stylus and run out of the 25% DEET bug spray. The current stuff we have does not seem as effective in fending off the mosquitoes. I am miserable with bites. The air is still as the dead, so no help there. There was a storm off to the NE in the pre-dawn, but it has since moved off. The temperature is 78F and it feels like at least 80% humidity.

In more falcon related news, we confirmed 10 birds yesterday. There is still no sign of 20Green and at this point, we don’t expect him to return. There are 2 birds eating on Tower 2 so far this morning. The others should trickle in soon. I saw some coyote scar near Tower 2 this morning, but we already knew they were in the area and the falcons are safe from them as long as they’re not roosting near or on the ground.

Site 2′s release went well yesterday. Mary and Kristen’s 3 little males fledged yesterday and are back this morning for breakfast. It could not have gone better.
