Bill Clinton was AWESOME this morning. We got there early to make sure we would get in, stood in the slight snow showers up there on the windy OHSU campus, but it payed off. I feel bad for the people who didn't make it inside!
What an personal experience it was, granted he could have done a larger venue, however keeping it in size did create a good feel. Plus, in addition to talking policy and plans, he incorporated how this would effect Portland and Oregon. For almost every point he could site a local issue that is connected to it, which really helps you see the picture, being the larger and the small focus.
All in all this was very inspiring, as I am very 'inspirable' at the moment. Even if one is not for Hillary or a democrat, seeing a US president in person is not something everyone can claim. And such a great president and a brilliant man such as Bill; people of the caliber do not appear everyday. This man will be recognized by our children and generations from now for his great service to our country and for his work abroad. He commands respect and now after seeing him in person has created this whole new light in which I view him and politics.
Shouldn't all our dreams include commanding such attention and adoration as Bill? If not for his great work, then for his intelligence and charm alone he is worthy of aspirations.
This man has done so much positive for our country and I hope that someday I can be just as inspiring to someone and be someone worthy of that respect. My dreams take from all that he has achieved.
End Note:
The topic that is often brought up by those with little political care or republicans:
Cheating on your wife is your own interfamily issue, not a national issue and not an issue that defines who you are and what you can accomplish. And when compared to the current administration, I'd take a cheating husband over a man who believes he is above the law, a liar and a coward. Ultimately, our current president is someone who after he leaves office should be brought to court and tried for the numerous crimes he has scoffed at and simply ignored. 'Presidential privilege' is not an excuse, if you are a US citizen you abide by our laws. Laws and regulations are there for a reason.
