Summary: Ichigo’s science experiment goes awry…

“This ain’t gonna work, Ichigo.”
“It will work, Renji! Now shut the hell up!”
Reluctantly the vice captain shut his mouth and watched the remainder of the preparations silently. He still didn’t think this was gonna work, but he was tired of arguing (he’d had a long day and arguing with Ichigo was always exhausting).
“Okay. I’m gonna release the Mentos®, so stand back would ya.”
“Why do I have to stand back? It’s not gonna do shit.”
Ichigo looked up from where he was crouching over the 2 liter bottle of Diet Coke®, one hand carefully holding a hand-crafted tube of Mentos® over the neck of the bottle while the other hand held a small piece of cardboard which separated the breath mints from the beverage below. If Renji were to use only one word to describe Ichigo’s expression at this moment that word would be “annoyed” …or possibly “hostile.”
“For the last time, this will work. Now shut the hell up, dammit!”
His temper was not the only thing that Ichigo lost. While shouting at Renji he also let his grip on the cardboard separator slip resulting in an unexpected shower of soda. Renji doubled over laughing as he watched the fountain of Diet Coke® shoot up Ichigo’s open mouth and nose.
Eventually Renji managed to regain a little composure and took a few steps towards Ichigo who was currently lying on the ground swearing and spitting up soda. Stifling a laugh he held out a hand to the soda-covered boy on the ground.
“Come on, Ichi. Let’s get you cleaned up.”
