I'm really enjoying going to church much more than I ever expected. I'm really loving the people and the sermons are just so interesting and varied. A few weeks ago they were talking about kite flying as meditation. Last week the entire service was based around people who run and/or bike. The service yesterday was about finding faith in music, especially the blues. Next week's service is entitled "Love Thy Neighbor? WHO must I consider to be my neighbor?" It sounds a bit entertaining. And the week after that is Faith & Feminism which will include a guest speaker that is an NIU student. The other interesting thing about this church is how quickly they want people to become involved. I've been attending for about a year now and I finally signed the book to become an official member about 2 months ago and I've just been nominated to become the chair of a committee. I'm used to thinking that you should actually attend a meeting at least once before you should consider leading a group but this place isn't exactly normal. The last big activity I did with them was going to the zoo. We need more trips like that. I also got Brian to go along to one of the activities because it involved going to the Mongolian Grill for dinner with the UU Eaters Club.
The Eaters Club is looking for suggestions of places we can go to eat. We're looking for something interesting that is outside of the DeKalb area. We've been to Rockford, Geneva, and even some place near Starved Rock. They've done Mongolian, Nepalese, and Cajun the last few trips and they're looking for suggestions for other places to try if anyone has a suggestion for me to pass along.
On a completely different note...I just found this game this morning. It's simple, fun, and kitty related:
