OK... I'm still 39 for four more days... and yet the brain is starting to go....
would one of you history or early-American buffs please clear something up for me....
Did Olaudah Equiano write his own damn narrative or is he just a big pissy lier? There is no mention in the textbook about crazy faux-narrative... but student sandbags me in class with info that her teacher over the summer told them "all about the controversy." I, of course, say something composed and brilliant along the lines of "Apparently even the scholarly community is of two minds as to the authors credibility, but my question to you all is whether or not it matters." Yes, yes.... I followed the Lizzie(aka Billy Flynn) model of misdirection and confabulation. But help! Somebody tell me who I should go read right now so I can sound brilliant in my next class--as the facade of academic shininess is the only happiness I know right now.
