Going Back to Work

Sep 27, 2007 10:27

On Monday, my maternity leave is over and I'm back to the office.
I'm looking forward to being on a schedule again and paying all my bills.

I am already back to work for the military and next year has the potential to be nightmarish as far as stuff for the Air Force is concerned.
I can get my next skill level in October - if the paperwork goes through - 5 Level! YAY! Getting my 5 level means I'm done with CDCs (job upgrade training books that are a bitch to read) for a while and I am no longer a complete peon, i.e. I know how to do my job so can have more responsibility.
Why might next year be evil? Well, I might get deployed to do training for a few weeks and I might get really deployed for an undefined period of time, oh and I have to do training to be eligible for promotion too. The last is the only option that doesn't having me leaving home for an unknown amount of time. Oddly enough I'm not too worried about any of it - just the leaving my family part.
Then again nothing at all might happen. *shrug* It's part of the job.

My regular job will be interesting for a while too. When I go back I'm going to be training to do my buyer's job since she leaves for maternity leave around the end of November (providing nothing happens, like going into labor 6wks early). I'll have my own assistant and be temporarily promoted for about 5 months - I think the sales people are going to hate me (she's nicer to them).

Dave is trying to figure out how much he needs to make for me to stay home. He's all sad that I'm going back to work.

Gabriel is growing wonderfully. His last doctor's appointment had him at 9lbs 6oz and 21", which means he's probably closer if not at 10lbs by now. He also had his first set of immunizations. He's spending more time staring at random things and is actually getting on a kind of sleep schedule for nights (not sleeping the whole night just yet though).

So that's it for the moment.
