His finger typed the last stroke even as he was getting up from his chair. Halfway down the stairs, he remembered to post his journal, and then it was out the door and around the corner to see what the commotion was about. L had, of course, forgotten his shoes, so he stepped carefully over the cobblestones and into the town square. There, perched atop the statue in the middle, was the strangest beast he had ever seen. It was a dragon, obviously, that resembled the western and eastern versions of a creature, but also held strange features of other animals. A lion's mane, a bear's claws, and the luminous flashing of fish scales, as opposed to matte reptile scales. The detective's mouth dropped open as he stood there, staring at it as it blew a stream of white-hot fire at an unsuspecting towns person. L looked away; the sight of frying human was far too much for him.

His mind immediately went to those who he had met so far that could potentially help him. Lina said that she could fly...Harry had a fling broomstick...and Naruto, should he actually choose to believe L and come to his aid, had untold skill that could be potentially very helpful. L dodged inside the pub, his thin frame cutting through the thick crowd of people without much trouble. Everyone was talking, screaming, yelling, and he wasn't at all sure what to do. Apparently, dragons were not a normal occurrence in the quiet little town. They lacked weapons, armies, or anything of use against the brutish creatures. The detective's house had simply not provided him with the necessary tools to combat any sort of trouble. His own skills in martial arts were geared toward self-defense; it was not nearly enough to take down a dragon.

He shook his head, trying to expel his own disbelief. He had seen the beast with his own eyes; it was real. He swung open the back door and promptly ran into another soul, both of them landing hard on the cobblestone alleyway. "Excuse me." L said hurriedly; even in a dragon invasion, he would always be sure to be polite.
