Happy Leap Day!

Well, it's been about a month. I've floated around a bit, but I haven't really been in lj lately. Things have been a little hectic and I've got three more days of my classes rock, paper, scissor-ing each other for who can screw me the most, but then it's spring break. I feel like there's so much I need to catch up with in non-school related things.

The bigbang_mixup fic rough drafts are due tomorrow so I am writing. I feel like I'm in that honeymoon phase of beginning a new story, except tripled. I ended up claiming three mixes. The first waaay back in November. I wrote it for NaNo, even as I knew it was going to need to be completely overhauled to be ready to turn in. So, maybe, a couple of weeks ago it came to me. I'm completely changing the style to a more fairytale-esque.

For the second, I decided to do a fanfic. I don't talk much about my fandoms, mainly because I haven't written a new fanfic in...5 years? (I'm still trying to finish the poorly written ones from my teens.) I had been planning to do Alphas fic (omg, loooove Alphas), but then chickened out as time wore on. I didn't know how to start. I don't know the characters well enough to write them well and I haven't been in Alphas fandom, pretty much at all. I tried, but the most popular couple I don't really understand, so there not a whole lot for me to read. Time was running out. I, at least, needed to figure something out and soon. So, I changed from Alphas to Merlin.

Merrrlin. I love it. I am a serial lurker in Merlin fandom, because all the authors are so amazing. Maybe it's because I read Merlin fic on lj instead of ff.net, but it's kind of scary how amazing all the authors are. All of them. I mean, I like some better than others, buuut none of them are straight-up bad. I am awed. So, I was a little hesitant about writing Merlin for this reason. But then, I got to plotting. I had 3/4 of the thing outlined in a day and I'm so happy with it. I love it. I'm so happy I made the switch.

I claimed the third mix 9 days ago. I started writing...the day before yesterday. I spent most of my time trying to wrestle the characters into submission. It's original fiction and I can't pants it exactly since I need somethng for an artist to work with, so then I had to tackle the plot. I don't anticipate it being very long, but I'm starting to love it. It's a cute little urban fantasy slash romance story.

The total for all three is estimated at 40k. I want to have them all completed by the end of March. That'll give me a month for beta reading and a month that the artists will have with a completed draft. I estimated that I have to write 1200 words a day, divided into 3 stories, 400 words in each story. I'm for sure that I can do that. Even when I'm having a hard time writing, I know I'll be able to get 400 words for each. Plus, I'm writing the fanfic longhand and I can get 600 words on a notebook page front and back, so I'll be able to finish that one even faster.

According to my math, I should finish all three by March 26. *crosses fingers*
