So right now i should be reading my ISU book for english (A handmaid's tale)...instead im sitting here drinking cider and listening to my new Evanesence cd which i got for my birthday. Ive become so horrible at focussing on my homework..or just sitting and reading, this time last year i barely watched tv, yet this year i find it difficult to keep it off...its so much easier to turn ones mind off and turn on the tv instead of sitting and reading or actually doing something productive...
Right now im reading both A handmaid's tale and 1984, both very futuristic...both about an oppresive society stripping people of their basic human desires (music, sex, basically anything worth while ;) lol). It just kind of makes me think, we have alot of freedom yet so often we waste it by sitting infront of a tv or computer screen for hours on end. Are we really any better off then the individuals in this book? Looking at the growing numbers of youth who would much rather sit at home fiddeling away on their various machines for hours instead of going out with friends. What are we becoming? So attached to our precious devices...though i find it wonderfully conterdictory right now because as i rant about this im sitting typing away on this and msn, msn which has produced almost robot-like conversations from us all. the "whats up"s and "hows it going"s start to lose meaning after a while and just become tedious, put there in place of real conversation. Dont get me wrong...technology is wonderful, i wish i could remember this one quote or even who its by..it went somewhere along the lines that technology has surpassed that of the average mind and we must stop constantly producing more until we can understand that of today.
this entire entry has been horrible irronic because whats bothering me is that we use technology as a cover to shield ourselves from the real world..and yet im doing it at this moment to procrastinate further reading my book...
Well i think this is where my rants gunna leave off...
