Apple-cots, anyone?

So, my kids (I refer to the students as "my kids") call apricots "apple-cots." It's really adorable. Cuter than spasketti. Apple-cots. :)

We went to hang out with my friend Ben and his wife, Tiff, last night. It was a pretty good time. We played Balderdash, and I won (of course!). They're fun and funny to hang out with, and also they have this chocolate lab named Wrigley who is so cute and enthusiastic and loving. He knocked over glasses twice with his wagging butt.

Have you ever seen the show America's Test Kitchen on PBS? Here it's on Saturday afternoons. America's Test Kitchen is a real thing, and I think they have a magazine or something, but anyway, they cook some dishes but they test it all different ways (does canned or fresh work best? which canned brand is the best? which cooking tools work the best? etc.). I really like the show. I like cooking shows in general, but this one is different from the rest, and I like the host--he's geeky and wears a bow-tie, but you can tell he's cool with it. :)

I recently discovered I like bagels with cream cheese. I had never had it before a couple of weeks ago. The kids had it for snack (they had mini-bagels), so I tried it. It's pretty good. I like to put on a very thin layer of cream cheese and a very thin layer of strawberry jelly. The thin layers are key. I don't like lots of cream cheese on the bagels, just a hint. Now you know.

Michael and I were talking the other day about the pizza we had when we went to visit Andrew. I seriously think it's the best pizza I've ever had. It was so amazingly good, and I don't think there is anywhere around here that makes pizza in real Chicago style. Now I'm craving it, but have no way to get it. We've already decided that if Andrew ever comes to visit us, we're making him bring us a pizza. :)
