Things That Make You Go Crunch

Feb 18, 2005 02:17

I've recently fallen into a hopeless addiction with things that crunch. If I were a superhero, this would be my one debilitating weakness. I'd be flying along, ready to save the world by launching some de-atomizing photon beam at a gorgeous, scantily clad evil supervillianess, and she would laugh, and just tear open a bag of Chex Mix. Crunchy things are good, but I go crazy when people chew with their mouths open or crunch really loud without realizing it.

If sympathy could be wrapped in a box and adorned with a bow, I would send you a box of my sympathies. Fourteen days of work in a row? Sounds dreadful.

And hooray for the Counting Crows! They need way more recognition than just this song though.

Ugh, open mouth chewing sets me off every time as well. And I thank you for your sympathies. (even boxless!)

I keep changing my mind about the Counting Crows needing more recognition though. Sometimes, there's a big part of me that just wants to wrap them up and keep them for myself. Have you felt it?

Of course I've felt it! Too many people follow the trends- especially musical ones. That's why I like the Counting Crows so much. They aren't rap, they aren't pop, they aren't necessarily alternative. They ARE the name they created- they own their name, they write their music. There's passion and amazing lyrics. They can play And sing.

That's why I get weary when so many people claim to be true fans of the Counting Crows (or any group). It's hard for people to appreciate something that supposedly will go out of trend in the next month.

So yes, I'd rather all of those people just stop pretending like they know what the Counting Crows are really singing about, and just leave the music to the people who are truly passionate about it. It's like when you have something great, you kind of want to be selfish and keep it a secret all for yourself.

Like the people who download Mr. Jones and American Girls on MP3, shuffle it in with their Eminem, and try to apply the Counting Crows' lyrics to the same rap/hip hop/urban/whatever-you-want-to-call-it-this-week philosophy? Those people must die.

All this talk makes me want a tour.
