You can take the forest out of the boy...
I've settled in Nashville finally. There are plenty of details on what I've spent the months doing, but none of them would be exciting to read about. Suffice it to say that making the new city home has taken some work.
Little here is what I expected. The city bubbles not with tinsel superficiality as I had expected, but instead battles its fame-seeking patrons with brute honesty. We were big fish in a very little pond, and now that we are immersed in an ocean, it becomes difficult to remember that we are not small fish. We are as big as we ever were.
I've already made some great contacts. In fact, I have moved in right next door to the lead guitarist for Vince Gill. His input on how things work in this town has been invaluable.
I've recently begun work on learning the mandolin as a new instrument. It's been strictly as a hobby so far, but more may develop with it. We shall see. Though, with so much talent here, I am strongly considering falling back on my songwriting to get me by, rather than playing anything.
It's 3am, and I'm tired, so this may all be more disjointed than I intend. With hope, I'll catch up with you all again, and details can be shared.
