You Are Kermit

Hi, ho! Lovable and friendly, you get along well with everyone you know.
You're a big thinker, and sometimes you over think life's problems.
Don't worry - everyone know's it's not easy being green.
Just remember, time's fun when you're having flies!
The Muppet Personality Test

Sooooooooooooooooooo, I finished one of the versions of my short story for the contest yesterday (migraine and all) and I'm very, very proud of myself. Just goes to show that if you put your mind to it, all that red-headed power can and will make it work. I'm not sure how good it is (I am actually optimistic enough to think I did a good job and it has many layers like onions that I didn't realize were there until after I'd finished it) cause I'm waiting for feedback from everyone who is not Phil to see if it communicated it's layers. Phil of course read it and said it was awesome and he even discussed it too! WHOOT! Of course he could be being influenced by my mind so we shall see what the rest of the bunch say.

The cool thing is, I did it. I spent a good four hours on the damn thing. The original problem was, well making myself finish it. Then of course there was the fact that the first version was 280 words more than I was allowed. Guess what that meant? Carving out words. I think bamboo shoved under my fingernails would be more fun. I mean when you have such lovely descriptions and plays on words and then they force you to cut some. ARGGGHH! But I stuck to it and carved. I got to the point where I was 14 words over. More ARGGGHing. Then, I got to within 6. Now it seems like I didn't do much, but what you have to understand is that each time, when I'd take stuff out, I'd revamp it and force myself to make it better. So then I ran the grammar checker on it, which low and behold was pretty damn friendly with me! WHoot!!! Of course it had a couple pertinent points and so I had to revamp a couple things, which mean of course, I'd rewrite parts again. At one point I came up at 738 words. I was like whoooooooooooooooooot I can put more in!!!! ROFL Unfortunately the next one put me at 21 words over again. Sigh... but you see I'd decided that perhaps I needed to make the end make more sense as it was like I just jerked everyone short and thrown an ending up. So more crafting and re-crafting. Once more over with the grammar checker only to find out I WAS ONE DAMN WORD OVER!!!!!!!!! DOUBLE ARGHHHHHHH! I hear some of you, it's just one word... HOWEVER, WHICH ONE TO SACRIFICE??? Words are sacred... I felt a connection to the gothic word chick... (now that IS scary!) :O

I am happy to report I am at 748. Two words shy of the 750. AND I resisted the urge to throw 2 more words in. (I'm still breaking out in a cold sweat) Plus it's due by the 10th and I finished by the 7th. WHoot me!

And now since I'm Kermit and I've always loved the song, here's something to make you all hum and feel happy:

RAINBOW CONNECTION
Kermit the Frog

Why are there so many
Songs about rainbows
And what's on the other side
Rainbow's are visions
They're only illusions
And rainbows have nothing to hide
So we've been told and some chose to
Believe it
But I know they're wrong wait and see

Someday we'll find it
The Rainbow Connection
The lovers, the dreamers and me

Who said that every wish
Would be heard and answered
When wished on the morning star
Somebody thought of that
And someone believed it
And look what it's done so far
What's so amazing
That keeps us star gazing
What so we think we might see

Someday we'll find it
That Rainbow Connection
The lovers the dreamers and me

Have you been half asleep
And have you heard voices
I've heard them calling my name
Are these the sweet sounds that called
The young sailors
I think they're one and the same
I've heard it too many times to ignore it
There's something that I'm supposed to be

Someday we'll find it
The Rainbow Connection
The lovers, the dreamers and me

writing, phil, memory
