Okay so for those of you who would like to see what a real library looks like...
http://www.memphislibrary.org/about/libraries/central.htm Yes, I know you in Topeka like your cute little library. I'm happy for you. However, you would have library envy if you were here. First, this library which you see here, is huge has FOUR floors and is stuffed full of so much I had tears in my eyes and goose bumps. It has a kick ass elevator (think Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) and escolators and the ubiquitous stairs etc.
This is the picture I took with my camera which gives you a closer up view of said library from the people perspective versus the aerial one above.
So, if that isn't enough for you to be jealous of. Let me throw this out to you. This is but one of 19 libraries. Yes, that is not a typo. NINETEEN. This is the main branch so they are not all so impressive, but we have many things for me to read. This is good as it looks like I'm never sleeping again. And *giggle like a school girl* they gave me a card. My very own, pretty shiny, plastic yes Anne you can check out all the books you want to read and suck em' dry card. OH JOY! I restrained myself. I only took out 7 to begin with. After all, I got everything I wanted and more. I've already read 3 of them by this morning. (lack of sleep you know) One of the books was for Phil. But this is what I have for the next couple days. (in the tradition of Trisha):
The ShapeChanger's Wife - Sharon Shinn
BaneBreaker - Jacqueline Carey
Godslayer - Jacqueline Carey
Incubus Dreams - Laurell K. Hamilton
Diplomacy of Wolves - Holly Lisle
Archangel - Sharon Shinn
Yes, I was in the Sci-Fi/Fantasy Section. I will play in Mystery and other fiction and Biography in a couple days. Please note this is only my couple day reading list. If I were to actually do like Trisha and try to list my monthly list it would take up too much space. I did score a bunch of books at the garage sale the other day like "Utopia" (which I have ever wanted to read since "Ever After") and I have reread every book I own so many times that finally going to the library and being well enough to attempt it was a godsend. (THANK THE PTB FOR WORDS!!!!!! WHOOT FOR WORDS AND PEOPLE WHO PUT THEM ON PAPER!) Apparently I was very cute. Phil kept laughing at my glazed expression and my giggles of delight. (or was that demented delight?) Anyhow he offered to take my books and I was like no thank you. I can carry them. I have books. GRIN. Trot, trot, trot.
Also, we hit a lovely little Bistro and had some amazing coffee and some pastry (usually I'm a good low carb girl but when in France or in Memphis/France...)
See? YUM!
Then we went wandering around and finally stopped to see the geese and ducks at one of the luxury apartment complexes. I had my camera. So I took photos. There were goslings!!!!!! WHOOT! Here is my Photoshop of the cutest pair!!
And here is one more without Photoshopage:
This is funny because as I shot it, Phil was throwing stale cheetos at them. The alien cheetos are caught in midair!!
Okay so that was yesterday's fun. Enjoy!
*Goes back to zoombiefied state and reads another book...*
This is original picture BEFORE I played with Photoshop of two precious goslings!!!!!
