…just because everyone else is, and who am I to break the trend?
Updated, and now with added multimedia enhancement.
Name: Mac, aka.
Cindy Mackenzie... call her that at your own risk.
Age: 16
Year: Sophomore
Fandom:
Veronica MarsLiving Arrangements: #411
Appearance: About 5'5", blue eyed, curvy brunette, with some chunky, seriously bright, coloured hair highlights, usually pink or red, just because I have more icons for them. Her style would probably be described as rock chick. She's soft spoken, tends to avoid crowds, and kinda people in general unless she knows them. She also usually seems to have a laptop around.
Backstory:
Mac transferred to FH from Neptune High a year ago (almost to the day). I took her from the end of season one canon. She should be in college now, and yet she's only a sophomore here... Timeline, what timeline? Really. Don't even try to figure it out. I gloss over it because it makes my brain go a bit melty.
She was brought into Veronica Mars as
techno-aide to Veronica's espionage adventures, the role actually created with Tina Majorino in mind. She was only a very minor character in season one, but they are learning now that she really does rock and made her a series regular back in the summer. This makes me very gleeful, seriously.
Mac's a giant computer nerd and really doesn’t do a whole lot to hide that fact. She is generally found clutching her laptop as if life itself depends on its safety - it probably does, as she would fight tooth and nail for its return.
When she first appeared, it was in order to help Veronica track down the poster of some faked Purity Test results. As it turns out, Mac was the one running the site, and she made enough money out of the whole scheme to buy herself a shiny new VW Beetle, and FH Mac sold it again in order to come here. Morally she has absolutely no problem with getting rich kids to part with their pocket money.
She came to Veronica a few episodes later with a joint money making scheme, and although nothing came of it, she instead had Veronica check out her parents and family background. Mac never really felt at home in her family and it came to light at this point that she had been switched at birth with 09'er
Madison Sinclair. She found she had a younger sister she'd never heard of, and met her birth mother for the first time.
I've mostly ignored anything that's happened since the season one finale. She never met Cassidy, and so has avoided a whole lot of drama and probably a heap of
psychiatric bills.
When it comes to interacting with her, chances are high that she'll like and actually be really nice to your characters... but she doesn't really tolerate stupid that well, and it shows. She thinks someone's a moron and she will snark,
give weird looks, and use
excessive sarcasm. I don't get to bring that out anywhere near enough. Seriously, piss her off for me!
Random things about FH!Mac and how I play her:
- Mac transferred to FH from Neptune High at the start of spring semester, and I took her canonically from the end of season one. She should have been going into her senior year at that point. Now, she's a sophomore. Yes, she dropped a few years somewhere along the line. Yes, there is a vague backstory to that, but I gloss over the whole thing in game because thinking about it too much breaks my brain a little.
- She's very bright, and finds it easy to excel in just about anything. She's not just a computer geek, she's also cultured and has a love of literature. She's a multi-faceted brainiac.
- The nickname Mac is actually based on her surname rather than the OS, but it works pretty well either way. You can try calling her Cindy, but she'll probably either ignore you or tell you, you sound like her mother. It's not recommended.
- She's a vegan, but I know next to nothing about a vegan diet. All information I use is cribbed from Google and the Vegan Society website. I usually have her eat fruit and vegetables, or just stick 'veganised' in front of whatever food it is she'd chowing down on and hope that there is actually such a thing.
- She is not a girl to anger because she gives as good as she gets. The last guy (
surferboy_09er) to publicly mock Mac and Cassidy found himself set-up, and unexpectedly making out with a transvestite in a parking lot. She can orchestrate public humiliation when she feels like it. Granted, you have to be a serious ass to her or one of her friends for this to actually be a problem.
- She has an entrepreneurial mind, and if she can come up with a plot to cause mayhem and make her money at the same time, it's all the better as far as she's concerned. Payment is a big motivator for her, and she's not afraid to ask someone to cough up in order for her to help them. If you're a friend though, she's quite likely to do it for free. She’ll help with anything from building websites to digging up dirt, to tutoring, whatever.
- I'm known to be quite trigger happy with her hair highlights. Every so often I get bored, and have her change them, just because I can. They tend to be red or pink, simply because I have more icons with her like that.
- I've given her a coffee addiction, because any geek worth their salt is up all night, and copious amounts of caffeine is a must. It may also be a little because she's inherited certain traits from her mun along the way.
- She's pretty quiet and keeps herself to herself for the most part, but once she gets on a roll, particularly on her subject of choice she does tend to ramble. If you don't want to hear about the benefits of packet switching over circuit switching, or the horrors of Linux as an OS just don't get her started.
I can usually rattle off geek-speak relatively effectively, but I am by no stretch of the imagination an expert especially not when it comes to Macs. Hopefully I pull it off without any glaring technical errors.
Along the same lines, however much I try to avoid it, my Brit-isms totally slip in there sometimes. Oops.
