Dr. McCoy here.

Training has started, and do you all know what that means? No? Well, I will tell you. It means that you will be engaging in highly aerobic and for some of you high-impact activities. Injuries are inevitable! Also, the change in schedule could also play havoc on your immune systems, so I foresee some colds being passed back and forth as well. There are some things we can all do to minimize the risks during this time:

• Eat well! This is the most important! If you don't like what they're serving in the mess hall, requisition something! Do not go hungry. Most of you should be eating three square meals a day. Fruits and vegetables, dairy, meat, and whole grains, every day! And drink well, too. At least one glass of water or milk with every meal.

• Stay well rested. Try going to bed and waking up at the same time every day. I know this place isn't always conducive to a good night's sleep, and our situation is very stressful, but do your best. I can offer advice to those who aren't sleeping well.

• Stay clean. Wash your hands as often as possible. This will slow the spread of any germs among the residents.

• Stretch before and after your exercises and training. Warm up and cool down. This will greatly reduce the stress on your joints and muscles, and will help prevent self-inflicted injury.

• And last but not least, if you are feeling unwell, or believe yourself to be injured, SEE A DOCTOR! If not me, one of the other doctors or healers on the grounds. There is no excuse for walking around miserable when there are those here who have the ability to help you.

Thank you for your time.
