First, I want to get this out of my system:
You fucking bitch. I asked for my fucking birthday off, and not only do you schedule me, you put me on during DINNER SHIFT. As if there was no other way I wanted to spend my birthday night than to put up with dumbasses, rednecks, bad tippers, impatient customers, and management who don't understand when employees need to leave so the closers can make decent money. Oh, and supposedly there may or may not be a UFC fight that night, meaning I won't even get out until the wee hours of the morning. I realize that I am asking for four days off the next weekend and it is the fourth of July, but I'm only turning nineteen once and everyone else who requested their birthday off has gotten their wishes since I started in September! UGH!!!
Anyway, the beach was awesome. Alex and I spent lots of time relaxing and enjoying each other's company, and after two years, I'm glad we're still like that. I just wish the trip had been longer, but then again, I have a really bad tendency to spend lots of money when I'm away. D:
We had an adventure after we left my house. His car is a stick shift and wouldn't stay in fifth gear, so we turned around and borrowed his parents' van. They took his car in today to get it looked at, and the transmission specialist is keeping it for 24 hours to open up the transmission and see what's wrong. Worst case scenario is that Alex will have to replace the transmission, which will be an expensive and long winded repair for both labor and parts. The guy said it might be cheaper to find another manual RAV4 from the same year and just take that transmission if it's still in good condition, but even that is going to take a long time. We'll see what happens. To continue our car misadventures, we came home to find that someone hit the van at some point when we had the car parked because we never noticed it being hit while we were driving, and had the scratches been there before, we would have seen them pre-trip.
In all honesty, I really did have a fantastic time, and I should stop griping now that I'm back in the real world. Of course, I have to be at work in ten hours, so maybe I can just raise holy hell until the schedule is modified.
