Seventeen IS so sweet.
Today. Was. AWESOME.
Alex called me this morning to ask if I wanted to accompany him on his family's impromptu Richmond trip. I said thanks, but I would skip out on that trip. I needed time to get ready for tonight. He called a bit later to tell me that they gave him permission to stay home and to ask if I was up for hanging out. The answer was somewhere along the lines of "Yes!"
Of course, when I told Mom, she told me to take $20 for gas and "get lost" because she was having a bad day. (Cirrhosis-stricken Mary has started hallucinating, and it's really getting Mom down.)
So, Alex and I went to his house to get the list of things that I'm supposed to do before I die. We ended up slow dancing in his room to Led Zep's "Stairway To Heaven," and watching National Lampoon's Vacation. His family came home while we were watching NLV, and his mom joined us. We left shortly thereafter for the park where we stayed until I had to go home.
I picked up Ellie and headed out to IHOP!
"Dinner" there was fun. Ellie, Ally, Mindy, Alex, and I were there; Brandon's mom made him back out at the last minute. Some of Ally's friends ended up showing up as well, making things interesting to say the least. One of them also thought I was Terry instead of Mary. 0_o
After much admiration of our lovely Russian waiter named Dmitiry and consumption of pancakes in mass amounts, we said our goodbyes and headed home.
Alex told his mom later that my mom never even said "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" to me all day long, and she got really upset and said she would get a cake for me. He told her not to, but I squeed when he told me and said she was really sweet.
I had a really good day. =D
