Shin posted this message in his my space blog. *laughs* I'm friends with Shin chan on Myspace.
Yo, everybody!
There's an interview right now on Newsarama with three of us American writers for Shin Chan. Click
here to check it out.
There are some mix-ups in the article we're waiting to have corrected, but we do like having the newsarama shout out.
To clarify for the record:
-The show began airing in Japan in 1992, not 1982.
-As has already been announced, Adult Swim has signed on for 26 additional episodes, our Season 2, for a total of 52 episodes. The article says "another 52," and that's a mix-up. Who knows, there could be a Season 3 someday, but we're a long way from knowing that.
-As much as we writers would like to take a trip to Japan, we have not, as the article states. We met with representatives from TV Asahi and Futabasha in San Diego last summer at Comic Con.
But here's what is true:
As the article states, the first DVD is scheduled to release this spring. We'll take that info one step further, and tell you the planned release is mid May. That could always change and be pushed back a couple weeks, but mid May is the plan right now. And last we've heard, the DVD will contain the first 13 episodes, which is a total of 44 vignettes/mini-episodes. 44 on one release! Heck yes!
The first episode of Season 2 is a three-vignette parody of a certain sci-fi franchise. That's right. We're jumping on board and doing our duty, to complete the Adult Swim parody trilogy. We've seen the finished product, and we think it's awesome, especially for weathered Shin fans. Get ready for a full-silver-plate crap-load of Shin Chan and Star Wars in-jokes. And we promise it's a much different spin than you've seen so far.
More details on Season 2 to follow soon. It's gonna be sweet!
Eternally Yours,
The Shin Writers
