I don’t know if I told everyone this but now is the perfect opportunity to. My mother and my two aunts are planning a trip to the British Isles and invited me to join them. The only hitch is that because my brother had to pay for half of his trip to Italy, I would have to pay half of the cost of my trip which the way my mother travels will end up $1,000 to $2,000. Closing point is that I decided NOT to go. Why would I spend all that money to be looking at castles for hours on end far away from my friends? It doesn’t make sense plus I’m not even interested in the British Isles. Sure I would find it interesting once I got there but I dream of going to other destinations. I want to go to Italy, London or Japan … (or Prague). I want to go back to New York and Boston and travel cross country with my friends. Being with my friends is a key point! The itinerary is totally different when you are with a bunch of old farts. And I for one do not want to waste my summer vacation stuck in a museum across the ocean.
Getting that STAR program internship this summer would be so awesome. I really want the experience of living on my own and eight weeks in San Francisco bay area with other science educators seems almost too good to be true. Though not living in the area and being a little younger than they hoped might cause me not to be accepted. I’m gonna try my best anyway, there is always next year.
