It’s the little, unsteady things that build up their lives: It’s the weapons in the trunk and the stitches they do themselves in motel bathrooms. It’s the feeling of adrenaline under their skin and blood on their hands that make them feel human-but it’s the feeling of tearing each other apart that makes them feel whole.
It’s sinking his teeth into a muscled chest as tight, wet heat surrounds him; it’s pulling on his long hair to access his longer neck, so he might leave a chain of bruises; it’s fucking his little brother like a dirty, depraved animal that makes his life worth living.
And he knows it’s the same the other way around.
He knows being picked up, held against the wall, and letting his sweet baby brother have his way with him brings the twinkle to his eyes. He knows that sucking him down until he chokes is a surefire way to carve the dimples back into his cheeks, and the carpet burn is definitely worth it.
All of the pain in their lives are worth it, because they have this. A warm body breathing steadily next to them at night, (absolutely not cuddling, no matter what the younger might say), and playful shower sex in the morning. After all they’d been through, all they’d lost and seen, they deserve this.
And when they finally do go out, and they go out together, in their final moments, they’ll be able to remember their life together, built upon the little things-the sun off the roof of their car, each other in their respective seats, and their hands entwined in the middle.
(Not that they’d ever speak that part aloud: That was their own little secret.)
