Poem: When you died, I hid your bones;
--
they say, Boy, this house is haunted.
voices tinkle in the hallway
like broken mirror shards
falling from under my fist
they ask, Boy, why you stayin' here?
echoes of shadows of shells
swept like bitter choking dust
under a tacky decorative carpet
they don’t know it’s just you
your bitter laughter floats around
the crunch of broken beer bottles
in between steel-toed boots and asphalt
they don’t ask who's keeping me
imprints of flashes of shocking green
your eyes possessing me like a demon
shaking my body like fever dreams of trains
they say this home is haunted
they don’t ask by whom
it's just you
looking after me
(even in death)
