So I called Monet during my study break (yes, I've actually found the motivation to study!!!) but she was at work and so her mom and I talked for 20 minutes on the phone. Brokeback Mountain is parent safe...
It's not like they've never seen gay sex before.
There are no steamy scenes - things are implied, but it doesn't get hot and heavy.

It's the same with any movie with sex scenes or drugs or anything like that.
Everyone's adults.
I'm not saying it's not uncomfortable - because it is - but it's really not that big of a deal.

I'm pretty sure my mom and I would be fine watching Brokeback Mountain together. In fact I might try to get her to watch it again some time, because I think she was purposely watching with a critical eye the first time she saw it to see how convincingly those guys could portray a gay relationship. Bah. She always does that with hype movies.
