So we're working this scene, pretty horrible one at that. Triple murder. Single mom and two sons. Only there's a third son, the youngest, we don't know about yet 'cause we've JUST gotten there. And the idiot rookie on the scene first doesn't clear it properly and the guy is still in the house, holding the kid! But he's so strung out on godknows what kind of drugs he doesn't have a damn clue what he's doing.
Nick runs in to him, sees the kid. Guy flips, runs. Nick FLIPS EVEN WORSE and starts chasing him out of the house. Seriously, don't mess with kids around Nick. He'll go ballistic.
Anyway Captain Brass is standing back there screaming for Nick to get his ass back there and let the cops handle it, but Nick is of course not listening. So I go chasing after him. All three of us run in to this abandoned house. I lose track of Nick, head up stairs, next thing I know I've got a bullet through my arm, he's screaming at me, I'm falling through a window and I wake up here.

Hm? Oh, yeah, that does now that you mention it. Huh.

Aw well, s'not like ah've been meanin' t'get into Policin', not after ah've been bounced from th' force before.

Well, it's up to you how you go from here, but there is a team called DATs here that pretty much does just that. I put in for investigations since my ex supervisor happens to be here and is working for them.
Or you can go it on your own. Plenty of people do.

I'll consider it an' all, considerin' I do a lot o'work as Series Blue. But ah'm just a mechanic, so maybe I'll get a job in a garage or build me own vehicles. Ah'm sure there's something here I can look into.

Greg, what's with the look?
Oh. Nothing.
Yeah. Seems everyone finds their niche eventually. Mine just sort of fell on my lap the second I realized Grissom was here and out of retirement.

An' I built an' maintained me truck back home so mechanics are th' second nature an' all to me.
Reply
Greg, I already told you, you don't need a truck here.
It's not a truck, it's an SUV and I miss mine!

Anythin' y'be looking t'add to it?

Greeeg you don't need one!
Do I CARE?! He can make one! Um... I'd have to think about the adding thing, but I'm sure I can think of something!

If you're really going to do this, maybe you should get something to hook up to your D-Comm in there?
Ohhey, that's a good idea little guy. And a GPS too.

So a D-Comm hook up an' a GPS. Gotcha.

Can you stop grinning like that, Greg? It's kind of creepy.
