The majority of our friends went on a roadtrip to Richmond for Cycleslaughterama this weekend, so it was decided that we could finally go camping.

We invited our favorite zoobomb couple, Josh and Julie, down in Eugene. The plan was to meet up Friday evening so we could have some bike adventuring in Portland that night and leave early Saturday morning. We got a call from Josh just after midnight, letting us know that he was still in Eugene, playing Tetris in his underwear and making an apple pie. They ended up in Portland around 3 and we didn't get to bed till the sun came up.

The camping spot was amazing. We were in a thick forest but also right on the beach, and they had wheelbarrows, which made packing in and out luxurious. After setting up, we caught the sunset on the beach, and Tom and I got to see whales for the first time ever. The next morning we spent the day checking out tidal pools filled with sea anemones, orange and purple starfish, crabs, and all other sorts of creatures. The weather over the trip was nuts, we caught a snowstorm on the drive up, a flash hailstorm the first night, and then it was sunny and warm on the beach but also snowing.

This trip just made me that much more excited to spend a week hiking the Juan de Fuca trail at the end of the month.
