{001} - [Voice/Action] - the Doctor is in

Feb 12, 2010 09:27

[Just outside the village proper, the Doctor is wandering about, utterly perplexed as to why he is half-naked. The skinny bloke is a bit self-conscious, not to mention a little chilled given he had grown so accustomed to donning multiple layers. The wings also leave him highly perturbed.]

What- wings? Surely the TARDIS could not have damaged my ( Read more... )

[He takes in her tone and nods slowly, glancing away for a moment, the gears at work processing all the possibilities as to how he could have wound up here. His memory jumped to Satellite 5 and the Bad Wolf corporation, they had the ability to track the TARDIS and alter its coordinates. But they were controlled by the Daleks and...No. It couldn't be! Not now! Not here! Was this "Luceti" another clever little Dalek creation set to be a trap? He would not put it past them.

The Doctor sighs through his nose and chews on his bottom lip in frustrated thought. He did not like the sound of this. Even if this time around it wasn't the Daleks, someone had the ability to get inside the TARDIS. Not only that, but to relocate it and all his possessions in the short amount of time he must have been unconscious. Whoever had done this clearly knew what they were doing, and who he was. Whatever it was they wanted him for he had a feeling it wouldn't be good. Good citizens ask him to come and help, after all.

Jumbled thoughts aside, he met her gaze and gave her a curious look. Despite the wings, she looked human. Bit of an attitude, but other than that he didn't feel anything out of the ordinary about her.]

Tell me about this "Luceti", - I'm sorry, what did you say your name was?

I...didn't. But, I guess I will now. Me? I'm Buffy. Buffy Summers.

[Her arms limp at her sides, she kinda manages at least a friendly inclination of her head. The guy had such a wild look on his face and she could only imagine that he must be over-thinking the entire thing. Sure symptom of a hero-complex.

Pursing her lips, Buffy shook her head.] Luceti's a glorified prison with the added bonus of most of life's little necessities being fabulously free. But we're still stuck here as lab-rats for the Malnosso. Unless, of course, your big fat metaphorical number gets drawn and you get the one-way ticket back home minus some memories. That's how the story's being passed around, at least.

[So, this place was a forced Utopia. A life in a virtual paradise with little mundane worries, but the price to pay was to always be kept on one's guard. A threat of danger always lingering. And this... "Malnosso". The name alone did not come off overly pleasant. The Doctor did not like the fact she used the term "lab-rats". He was starting to fear the worst.]

What do these "Malnosso" do to you? Experiments?

[His expression softens a little and he tries to come off as less panicked. He flashes her a smile.]

But it's a pleasure to meet you, Buffy Summers. [He offers her a hand.] I'm the Doctor.

Experiments, abductions, and their latest and greatest is a draft to get us captives to go and get our violence on for their own inglorious uberwar.

[Never mind that Buffy quite willingly had signed up to go--after all, she had a bone to pick with the opposing force's General--but her volunteerism was destined to secrecy. She doesn't want her coping mechanisms dragged in front of the public's eye.]

Another doctor, huh? [She throws a hand out to him in casual greeting.] McCoy'll might be glad to find a colleague.

[Looks at her quizzically, brows furrowed. Thoughts quickly flash to Jenny. This feels eerily similar.]

So, they're turning you into soldiers, then?

[Takes her hand and shakes it arduously.] I'll see what I can do.

Some folks are already battle-hardened. We come from all kinds of different places, backgrounds, career paths. You might be a doctor and someone else is a bartender and someone else again is a gymnast. Takes all kinds, right?

[Her eyes narrow at him.] But what do you mean, you'll see what you can do? People've been doing that here for years and guess what? Square Onesville.

[Gives her a very mischievous, omniscient sort of look.]

Ah, but I'm no ordinary doctor, you see.

[Oh, is she ever wary of the crazy.]

Is that so? What, are you more nose? Less ear and throat?

[He's completely aware just how utterly bonkers he's coming off as, but that's relatively normal for him.]

You see, my name is the Doctor. It's not my profession.

Right. Of course. Because that makes perfect sense.

[Resisting the temptation to just turn and walk away.]

I'm not human, is what I meant to say. I'm sort of... the doctor of everything. The universe perhaps.

[He's really not sure if it'd be a good idea to give away the name of his species or not. Though he has a feeling the Malnosso must know already.]

That's kind of a tall order, you know. You can't just expect any girl off the street to believe you're some kind of super doctor. Unless--[look of intense suspicion]--if by not human you mean demon?

[Flails a bit, taken aback.]

No no no! Nothing of the sort! I'm otherworldly, but not in that way. No, Time Lord. Not demon.

Time Lord? What's that, some kind of watch expert?

[And instinctively, her eyes flicker to his wrists. Just in case.]

Time traveler, actually. Alien time traveler, I guess to you. The blue box I'm looking for has a lot to do with it.

[Has lost count of how many times he's had to make this explanation.]

[Well, that was a way to bring her right back to the problem she was trying to forget.]

Another doctor and another alien. How unsurprising.
