Pictures Books with Same-Sex Relationships
So, something ridiculous is happening in Oklahoma. In response, I've begun compiling a list of picture books that include same-sex relationships. I have not read all of these books, though I'd like to check them all out. This list is definitely just the tip of the iceberg.
Also, I am making an effort to make a list of books where the same-sex relationships are a non-issue. There's definitely a need for books that deal with trouble that kids face in the world, but I think books where diversity is a non-issue are VERY important for little kids who may very well not yet know that some adults are afraid of diversity.
I'd really like to compile a list that deals with all kinds of family diversity (adoption, ethnic/skin color diversity, differently-abled people, non-married parents, etc.), but hey - I just started this list! I can't do everything at once. =)
