Identity : Chapter 6
"I'll take one please," Donghae approached Jessica. She looked up and smiled in surprise, and handed him a stalk of red rose. He placed the money in her hands and grabbed it, refusing to let it go.
"Donghae..." Jessica looked awkwardly to her left and right, and felt relieved that the roadside was bustling with activities, and no one saw that moment between the both of them.
"Preparing for Valentine's Day?"
"Yeah, I need to save up for someone..." Upon saying that, Donghae noticed a slight blush appearing on her face.
He knew who that special person was.
"Oppa, can I come over to your house tomorrow?"
Donghae scratched his head.
"Er...actually I...I need to study..."
"Wednesday?"
"A...appa is bringing me to...to meet a client."
"Oh...what about Friday?"
"Er...I," Donghae searched for an excuse. "Well, okay...er, in the afternoon then?"

"Sungmin, you're back. Come take a seat."
Mr Goo gestured Sungmin over to the black leather couch to his left.
"Appa, before anything, I need to clarify," Sungmin settled down and quesitoned. "What happened to me, and who is Sooyoung, and her friend?"
Mr Goo sipped his coffee and sighed, leaning back on the couch.
"Sooyoung and Kyuhyun? There are your childhood best friends weren't they? They came to visit you while you were in the hospital, after your car accident."
Sungmin's mind was in a whirl. He shut his eyes and tried to think. Sooyoung, Kyuhyun, childhood. Nothing. He could remember nothing at all. His mind had gone blank.
"I suspect it's a murder. No number plate, from what Kyuhyun saw, and the driver drove off right away."
Mr Goo paused and looked at Sungmin.
"I think it's Mr Lee. The one which I claimed the casino from because he lost a case."
Sungmin opened his eyes, knitting is brows.
"Mr Lee?"
"I won over the directors and hence the casino. It's right that he would be jealous, he's been eyeing on that casino, but I beat him to it, of course," Mr Goo continued triumphantly.
The puzzle was beginning to fit together. Sungmin nodded slowly, piecing everything together. He understood. He was in danger of getting harmed, but what about his two friends?
"Appa, Sooyoung and Kyuhyun, I can;t remember them," He told his father sorrowfully.
Mr Goo couldn't care less.
"It's alright. Just forget about trying to remember," Mr Goo leaned towards Sungmin. "It will only cause you more pain. Finish your studies, take over my career, that's what you should focus on.
Sungmin hesitated for awhile, then agreed. After all, his father had meant him well right? He decided, he should just start anew. But there's something about the girl's smile that he can't seem to forget...

Donghae opened the door, and saw Jessica smiling brightly at him.
"You came?" He asked as he shut the door behind Jessica. She nodded and smiled gleefully at him.
"I'm going to prepare a pre-valentine gift Oppa," She said excitedly as she hurried to the kitchen, and laid out the ingredients that she had brought along with her. He watched her, and could sense that she was serious about their relationship.
End it if you don't want to hurt her. His elder brother's words flashed before him. Hangeng had many flings, and he always ended it without hurting them. His father was a womanizer after his mother passed on. Hangeng was already a playboy, and he cared about girls feelings, which was the reason he did not go for innocent ones.
But Donghae was different. He was not born a casanova, but it's because he had no confidence in serious relationships. He had witnessed people in pain because of relationships, and he was afraid to hurt, so he followed in his brother's footsteps, having frequent flings. He had tried every hard, being warned by Hangeng of the consequences, not to allow himself to fall deeply in love, but he did. And now he could not break away.
"Oppa, you can go and lay out the mat first, we're going to have a picnic!"
Jessica yelled from the kitchen.
"Okay sure." Donghae tried to sound enthusiastic. He saw Jessica surrounded by smoke and watched as she rubbed her perspiration off her sleeves of her yellow dress. He sighed as he went out to the lawn with the mat.
"Oppa, here's your favourite kimchii dish!" A tired but elated Jessica came walking towards Donghae with a dish in her hands. He reached out and took the steaming plate and almost dropped it onto the mat.
"Ouch!" Donghae yelped at the heat of the plate. Jessica gasped and ran over to his aid, holding his hand up to her mouth and blew at it.
"Oppa, I'm sorry!" She apologized teary-eyed. Donghae looked at her, his heart sinking even further. How could he even have started this relationship? Her golden hair caressed her face in the breeze, a serious expression on her face as she carefullly blew his fingers.
"Jessica..." Jessica looked up. Donghae used a piece of tissue and gently wiped her oily face from all the cooking. She blinked at his sudden action and smiled. This was the first time Donghae did something like this.
"It's...okay. Oppa, I'll...I'll do it myself," She stuttered, feeling a little shy.
Donghae let her. He had realized, she was the only girlfriend all along that sincerely cared and loved him, not because of money, or status. But he could let her fall more in love with him, because he knew, he would hurt her someday.
"Jessica..." He wanted to make a clean break.
she looked up from unpacking the lunchboxes. Donghae's eyes moved to the innocent and soft-hearted girl before him. He pictured the consequences if he broke up with her now, and he could not bring himself to say it. She did not deserve to be hurt by him, he knew that. Donghae did not know that it wasn't because he was afraid to hurt her, but because he was scared of getting hurt.
"Oppa?" Jessica interrupted his thoughts. "Anything serious?"
"Er...er," His brains racked on what to say. "Pass...pass me a cream puff."
He forced a smile.
