Now posted from where the clouds can grow

Danny says that the clouds are stifled in Santiago, they can´t grow andd meet their full potential. aka it hasn´t rained for over a month in Santiago and probably won´t rain again while I am here.

That being said, I have run away from Santiago for the week and am posting from the gateway to patagonia, Puerto Varas. It is a lovely little town, situated right on a lake across from two big volcanoes. Sweet!

Danny and I arrived here yesterday after a 14 hour bus ride in cama class. So nice! They even give you a healthy breakfast of a brownie and peach nectar. After dropping our things at out hostal we hopped another bus to go to Chiloe! Chiloe is Chile´s second longest island and it is known for their seafood, weird mythology, and their endless supplu of knit goods. To get there we took a bus, which to my disappointment did not double as a duck boat, but instead drove up on to a boat which took us to the island.

Overall the day was pretty awesome. Some big highlights include: finding a hidden beach near an old fort; pointing out bogus museum exhibits; eating delicious and incredibly cheap seafood* in one of the famous houses on stilts; meeting Fernando and his mom on the bus to Castro**; and buying lots and LOTS of knit goods for incredibly cheap - people should be excited for presents.

*Caution: delicious cheap and tasty seafood may not be the best idea and can result in you trapping yourself in a boat bathroom for 30 minutes.

** Fernando is an 8 year old cueca champion who spent our hour bus ride asking what everything in the bus was in spanish. Let´s just say by the time Fernando left he had tried to gift danny a WWF hat, he had danced reggaeton style in the aisle, and he had gotten our names so we could be facebook friends. Pretty much we are BFFs

Today I think Danny and I are going to have a lazy morning and then hike out to some lakes. Maybe it will rain, I mean here the clouds have potential.
