day 1 in siam

Oct 24, 2008 00:30

i barely slept before the flight because of my uhm, unusual body clock. the flight was okay in general although being stuck in the runway for a few minutes because of the birds that won't leave was funny, and my seatmate was so fidgety and irritating. halatang first time nyang sumakay ng eroplano.

i now have $200 and gave my B20 to dad to tip our driver. yes dollars but i'm hesitant to spend my money. i haven't even changed it into baht yet. still, i think it's good since we stll have several days here. i took a bangkok map from the airport (for free, i think) and i've been studying the train and river routes.

walked to robinsons and bought junk food and dinner. hotel room has mini kitchen which is good so we won't have to dine out every time we're hungry. when we asked the concierge for directions to robinsons they were surprised that we were just going to walk. but rob is like two blocks away. they have nestle lime sherbet here. bakit walang ganoon sa manila??? and tom yum instant noodles? maanghang and i think my cerebral fluid actually came out of my nose because ganoon siya kaanghang pero masarap.

back in manila (and in suvarnabhumi airport), may nakasabay kaming guy and girl. actually guy and woman and i would like to think na magnanay sila kasi the guy is way too young to be her significant other. we were practically seatmates in the plane until i dunno, they got upgraded or something kasi 3 lang daw ang nasa business class at lumipat sila dun (pwede ba un, paupgrade ka na lang ng ganun???).  the guy was a tall, blue shirt wearing, glasses wearing rich kid type. bakit ko nga ba sila nabanggit? uhm, wala lang. hindi ako nangingisda...pramis. (i love my bear too much).

our room has a lan/ethernet cable (wifi is available downstairs at the lobby and the business centre) and i checked the rates, it's B500 per 24 hours (so multiply that with P1.50) and it's more expensive than our dsl at home. i was forbidden to avail of the net services until tito efren told us it came with the room. we asked the concierge if it was free and she did say that yes we can use it for 24 hours. then we asked if it came with the package (of staying here and everything) and she looked at us and...nodded. we told her that were staying until next week and can we still have net for free? she looked at us and...nodded. hmmm...i just hope we understood each other.

it's disconcerting that whenever someone speaks to me (besides my parents), they talk to me in thai and i just stare at them blankly, just like when we were paying at the grocery.
