memories
Today I had an interview about what MHC admins do to support our trans population. It just made me think about Pride at Umassd (miss you guys). I was sad because I thought about how active and unafraid I was of politics, somewhere I got soft, comfortable and stopped working on glbt issues. Sure, I am a member of HRC and talk about gay marriage. I know HRC used to be transphobic, I can only hope it's better now...I stopped educating myself which is unfortunate.
I think what bothered me was to hear how mt.holyoke was seen as being progressive and ahead of other women's schools. Um....right...so much more could be done..ya we had one conference on being trans friendly. ONE. Love my co-worker who put it together, I work here because of him. I wonder if I can get him to do another conference.
I do realize it's up to the students to make a dif.
Its been 2.5 years, I think I'm finally ready to really focus again on soc. justice topics/trainings/conference again. Feel right, and it feels good to be inspired again.
