“Okay. You cannot stay here. You are driving me just a liiiiiiittle insane, and I have an article to write.”

Phoebe pushed her glasses up her nose and looked at the two ghosts hovering in front of her. The two women didn’t look any happier to see her than she did to see them. It wasn’t that she minded being a witch. Really. In fact, she loved it. But spirits with unfinished business interrupting what had formerly been a very productive work day. They didn’t look like friendly spirits with unfinished business either. They looked pretty annoyed.

“Hey, lady. We don’t want to be here either,” the blond snapped at her. “But apparently you’re supposed to help us. So why don’t you help us so we can actually leave.”

Phoebe was starting to like this blond less and less. She sighed heavily, burying her face in her hands. “Alright, fine. How can I help you? You obviously have unfinished business-what is it?”

The blond huffed a bit, and the other woman, who had been silent for most of the conversation rolled her eyes. “Well. Out with it, Joanna Beth. It’s your unfinished business here, not mine.”

Phoebe’s eyes moved back to the blond as she waited and ‘Joanna’ was quiet for a minute. Then her shoulders slumped and she let go of the tough girl posture she had been hold on to so hard. “There’s this-guy.”

“Ah,” Phoebe nodded. “Isn’t there always.”

Jo’s eyes narrowed. “It’s not what you think. I just-there’s something I need to know. And apparently I can’t do that without your help.”

“Alright. Who are we going to visit?”

“His name is Sam Winchester. I think he’s in San Francisco.”

“Okay,” Phoebe sighed, before pulling off her glasses and looking at the ceiling. “I’m the witch. This is what it’s for. Leo.”

There were some swirling blue lights, and a few minutes later, her brother-in-law was standing next to her. “What’s up, Phoebe?”

“I’m having a bit of a ghost problem,” she said, before gesturing to the two women standing in front of her. “I need to know if you can help me find someone. Jo thinks he’s in San Francisco. His name is Sam Winchester.”

Leo’s eyebrows went up. “Winchester? You sure?”

Phoebe watched for a moment, before tipping her head to the side. “What’s so important about Sam Winchester?”

“I think I wanna ask you the same thing,” Jo crossed her arms in front of her chest. “What’s wrong with Sam?”

“Nothing! Nothing at all, just-I don’t think he’s going to be that responsive to a witch.”

Phoebe glanced between the two of them. “Am I missing something about this Sam Winchester guy that I should know?”

“He saved the world,” Jo replied. “Nobody knows that he did, but it happened.”

Phoebe watched her for a moment, before extending her hand to Leo. “You know where he is?”

Leo nodded. “He was … on our radar, so to speak, the minute he set foot into town.” He placed his hand in hers. “Ready to go?”

“Let’s do it.”

Phoebe found Sam in a bar outside of town. She and Leo orbed into the alleyway on the side of the building just as a very tall man was wandering out of the bar. Jo appeared beside her a minute later, and Phoebe blinked at her in surprise.

“You’re good at that.”

“I’ve had a lot of practice-can we deal with that later?” Jo pointed to the tall guy. “He’s getting away.”

Phoebe rolled her eyes at that, before starting to move forward. “Hey! Wait!”

Sam glanced back over his shoulder a bit, before shaking his head. “I really don’t have the time-I’m sorry.” He turned and started to head away again, and she jogged a bit to catch up with him.

“Jo Harvelle sent me.” The words were out of her mouth before she even realized what she said, and she knew that Sam’s reaction wasn’t going to be a good one. His back straightened and he turned around on her with narrowed eyes.

“Alright,” he crossed his arms in front of his chest. “You have about five seconds to explain that before I decide to take that the wrong way.”

“Fair enough,” she said, holding up her hands in front of her. “My name’s Phoebe Halliwell. I’m a witch-a good witch, not an evil witch. Jo’s spirit has unfinished business and she needed me to talk to you-that’s all.”

“Halliwell,” his head tipped to the side. “Like the Charmed Ones Halliwell?”

“That’d be the one.” Sam didn’t relax, but he didn’t attack her, either. “Look, I know you’re not exactly the most trusting guy, but I promise-Jo really did send me. And she does have a message for you.”

“Well? What is it?”

Phoebe turned to face Jo, and Jo was just looking at Sam, somewhere between stunned and sad. Phoebe gave her a moment, before speaking up. “Now or never, blondie.”

“Go home,” Jo replied softly. “Tell him to go home.”

Phoebe relayed the message. Sam had been trying to follow her eyes, trying to see what she was seeing, but Phoebe knew it wouldn’t work. After a minute, he closed his eyes and shook his head. “It’s not that simple.”

Jo floated forward, one hand coming up to brush against the side of his face, while the other pressed a gentle kiss to his cheek. He closed his eyes, almost as though he could feel the touch, and Phoebe didn’t need Jo to say it to know what the message was.

“You don’t need to be alone, Sam.”

He nodded, and took a step back. “I’ll think about it.” Then he flinched. “Ow! Alright, fine, I’ll go.”

Phoebe smirked at Jo. “You really are good at that.”

“As I said-I had a lot of practice.”
