Awkward Day...
So I called an Abortion Clinic Today!
Talk about awkward. I need to see a gynecologist for my yearly exam and to get my birth control refilled. So I go to United Health care's website, pull up the physician search and put in my zip code. I searched for OBGYNs. I call the first doctor on this list, which happens to be 2 miles from my apartment. I ask, "Hello, is Dr. _ accepting new patients?" A woman answers, “Well, what are you looking for?" "I need to schedule my yearly exam." "Ma'am this is an Abortion Clinic, we don't do that here!" as she slams down the phone.
So I think, maybe that was a mistake. I call the second number and ask the same thing. The woman responds, "Yes, are you having trouble with infertility?" I said "No, I don't think so." She said, "Well this is an infertility clinic..." At this point, I was really getting pissed off. Why would they list abortion doctors and infertility doctors as OBGYNs? I realize that’s what they are, but maybe they should put something there to let women know their specialty!!! I was afraid to continue down the list, I thought maybe I wasn't looking for an OBGYN. They didn’t have a listing for hoohoo doctors or punani specialists, I checked!
So I call my mom to see what I'm doing wrong and my Dad answers. He wanted to know what was wrong. I said nothing, I just to need to ask mom some questions. He wanted to know what I needed. I said, “well, I called an abortion clinic this morning and I don't want to make that mistake again!" I hear "gulp! What?" So I explained the situation and he said "you need to call your mom at work!" Thanks Dad, ya think!
Anyway, I didn't realize how awkward finding doctors can be! Unexpected, it really made me feel weird. There must be a lot of Saint Paul women getting abortions. The clinic listed like 12 different doctors. WOW!
Time to study... Accounting final in the morning! UFF Da!
