Fishing for interest...
Alright, so envious of all these communities out there for people who write fic or make icons and graphics I've got an idea for a "challenge" community for strictly art.
So I'm going to layout my idea here and if you'd be interested in such a community, be it participating or as something you'd watch to view the results, please leave a comment here.
The idea if of course for the Heroes fandom, considering how the connection between show and artwork has run through all four seasons. Each week a theme would be posted (A character, episode, season, etc) and the artists would have a week (maybe more) to create a work of art that goes along with it. It WOULD NOT be a competition, any level of artist is welcome, as is any medium (sketch, paint, cross-stitch, sculpture, etc...) maybe once every 6 months we could hold a little juried "awards" but that's not really important. There wouldn't be a sign-up list, you participate in the weeks you want, new people always welcome, but you'd ideally want to challenge yourself by creating something every week. After the pieces are turned in, another post would go up as the "art gallery" where all the pieces can be viewed together to enjoy and comment on.
So my fear here is, that I'd be the only one who'd want to participate...
I'll leave this post public for a while, direct your artsy friends over and see if they'd be wanting to participate. Or hell, even if you've never drawn before... give it a go and surprise yourself!
