A Genuine Reason For Procrastination?

Yes. I have an assignment due first thing tomorrow for Roxanne's class and three articles to read, but I can't, because the reading package has been out every time I've come to check all weekend. Reason being, the one reading package for our class has a 24 hour loan period, and people are obviously taking advantage of it. I don't blame them - except that it's the one reading package for our class, they know that, and they're leaving all of us who don't have the reading package copied in its entirety out to hang. Which is really, really bad for a class that has a focus on group participation and conversation.

I hate this. There were a few times last semester when I ended up not getting things done for Roxanne's class on time due to other work/computer fucking up again/various other things. I promised myself that that absolutely would not happen this semester. So you can imagine how pleased I was to find out that yes. It's happening again. Not deliberately, but nevertheless.

So I emailed her about the situation (even the librarians have noticed there's an issue), so hopefully she'll get it before she leaves to come to school tomorrow and will bring it up in class. She's generally good about that, and about making sure everyone has an equal opportunity. I don't know why she missed the boat a bit on this one, and theoretically, there's nothing wrong with a 24 hour loan period for a reading package. Practically, it just doesn't work.

So instead I'm doing my religion reading and trying not to *head/desk* too much about tomorrow morning, but what the hell. I'd practically have to have lived in the library this weekend in order to get the damn thing, I'm thinking.

----------------------------------

My week was otherwise pretty good though. Cole wanted to make us waffles on Wednesday night so I invited her over for supper and we had them for dessert. Saturday, Cole invited us over to her place for supper and we amused each other in perverse ways as per usual =D. I miss her this semester. We don't have any of the same classes and it's even weirder because I can't make it to anime club this semester either. I mean, I like my class (Metafiction), and my prof. I just hate that it's in the evening, specifically Thursday evening. It makes me sad every time I walk over but have to turn off in the Faith and Life building instead of going to the first year complex's basement. But the class is kind of fun. We make Stephen Colbert relevant to our topic. It's a little brain-twisty at times, but I have to take it and I know Harland will make it interesting.

We have a roommate prospect: one of Cole's old roomies had one of her roommate drop out on her as well. So I spoke with her and we talked about all the basic issues, and she seemed interested; she said she'd give us a call when she'd managed to terminate her lease, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed on that one.

My peer tutoring meetings have been moved to Wednesday at noon (thank goodness), and I'll be regularly tutoring early Wednesday evening - so I'm looking forward to that. I don't know how many people will show up this early in the semester, but I'll try to spread the word and we'll see how it goes. The four of us plus Craig (our instructor) are headed up to "The Mothership" on the 27th for the Festival of Teaching there... I kind of want to get out our power rings and superhero costumes and dress up for our booth, but I guess I better find out if it's feasible. I hope it doesn't require spandex. To explain.... One of our favourite inside-jokes is that we're like Captain Planet and the Planeteers, only we save essays and papers instead of the planet. And we have "Canadian Spelling! *mind rays*" and "Grammar!" as opposed to "Air!" "Earth!" or "Heart!" That sort of thing. We are total dorks and it's great fun.

I'm really sad that Lacy will be graduating and Tamara will be headed up to the main campus next year, though. I also found out this week that Cole probably won't be back next year either; she's thinking about going down to Lethbridge to finish up. I don't know if Holly will be back; a lot of the senior members of the anime club that I also will hang out with are either graduating or I rarely see outside of club. I guess I have to make some new friends. It just kind of sucks. Oh well.
