[Whatever you've been doing, whatever you might've been thinking for the evening, whatever you've been planning on, even sleeping--
Everything seems to come to a halt as things around you begin to feel colder than normal. The air seems dead, filled with a sense of unknown void and uncertainty. Paranoia.
And then you hear the voice. Strong, certain. Within it, you can hear it mixed with anger, frustration at the people as a whole, and upset at having death occur during his time of reign.
The voice is a male's, and while it is frustrated, it's not rough or forced. More or less stern, the voice of a leader and one who has seen many things no man should see in his lifetime.]
And here I would have believed my own people capable of being civilised. How the tides turn when you least expect them to.
"And woe to they who take the most precious of all things, the breath of which we all survive on. For it is not theirs to begin with, but rather a gift which is shared among us all, one that is meant to live its course in peace and tranquility, lest it awakens the wrath of the inner untamable beast. The price is threefold of that who had no say in such a matter, and the damner be warned of his or her impending doom.
That being said, I should find it of no distrust to lay down the law that states that those who disobey it should expect consequences for breaking them. The lowest being simple disregarding of rules, the highest- [A pause.] Murder. Genocide. A massacre.
And yet those who are awake continue to disobey- taking the very life of those who reside here. I will not wait in silence as you go about your day as if you have never committed anything. The taking of the lives of Lioriley and Angela are not only seen as improper and horrific, they are not tolerated in this city.
Know this, and know this well- we will not idly wait in the darkness and let you continue. May you tread your days as if they were your last, for we will find you, and you will come to know the wrath of the king.
