But with all the good tidings of the season, it would not do to forget that the peace and safety of our city and citizens remains under threat by the Exile and those who would lend them their sympathies. Ms. Eden Morrison, now known to be a traitor and terrorist working ( Read more... )

[ while Dawn is wearing her mask, it's not hard to see exactly how angry she is. ]

What proof do you have against Eden?

Two of your fellow citizens collected evidence against her and brought her to the Unnatural, and my own interrogations of her concerning the matter confirmed her guilt. The public requires no further details than that.

Then you can't expect the public to believe it.

Did you give them permission to hurt her and drag her out of her house?

Whatever measures they had to take were beyond both my knowledge and concern.

[ she wasn't expecting to like his answers, but she really doesn't like his answers. ]

Did you do anything about her bruises? Any injuries she got when they brought her to you?

How we accommodate our prisoners is, again, not up for public discussion.

Why not? Shouldn't we know how you treat people, no matter who they are?

[ the implication of "or are you treating them badly enough you don't want us to see" is there. ]

As such information is hardly relevant or necessary for the public to know -- no.

Hardly relevant?

Genero, we can't trust you if we have no reason to.

And is there some reason why I should fret over the loss of one citizen's trust in me?

Because it's not just one citizen.

Oh, do forgive me for miscalculating. But my point still stands.

So long as my work here is not impeded, I have little reason to care.

If people don't trust you, things like that will keep happening. [ she still doesn't believe it was Eden, but someone had to have been behind it. ] And I don't think you want something like that to happen every week.

In case it wasn't yet obvious to you, there will always be people who do not trust me. It's hardly any reason to compromise the city's security, much less that of this facility.

I know that. [ she's probably going to be one of them. ]

There's no compromise needed. Providing proof is giving us something to go on, and showing you treat prisoners well is the same thing.

One leak of information will lead to another. That is something I cannot allow.

As I have said elsewhere, if it is so deemed that proof of Ms. Morrison's conviction may be publicly released, then it shall be done. Until then, consider yourself not in the need to know.
