[ The feed opens to a place that few have seen first hand, and fewer still come out remembering it. There is of course one very notable exception showing the inner workings of the mysterious, leeching land ( Read more... )

[There wasn't much else that had changed about Thad since the initial scan. He was standing still after all.]

Of course. Something for you.

[He uncrosses his arms slowly and lifts his hand. A quick press to a hidden button on the ring on his finger and the ring pops open. Instead of clothes like he might usually carry in there, a translucent green substance springs out. A lot more than should be able to fit inside thanks to his compression technology, about 25 ounces of it. The gel is some of the Technoplasm Thad has been working to create since he recovered from the injuries he sustained in the Unnatural. It may look like gel but it's nano tech and quite advanced.

It pools on the ground in front of Thad and he lifts the ring up again.]

Demonstration sequence.

[Thad scowls at the gel. He's not happy he's only been able to give it incredibly basic programming with the limited resources he has in Promenade. Being cut off from CRADYL is not something he's used to. Second after the command, the gel springs to life. It takes on several geometric shapes, none larger than the average basketball. Once it runs through them, the gel shifts to become a small green replica of Thad that marches around a bit before melting back down into the puddle at Thad's feet.]

Technoplasm. I haven't been able to program it with more than this very basic function yet but with the proper resources this can be incredibly effective for infiltration and surveillance. It's adaptive and can also be programmed for combat should the need arise.

[As Thad speaks, the gel snakes its way up his ring to compress back into the ring on his left hand.]

With the proper resources I can create much more than just this.

[ Congratulations, Thad. You officially have Soundwave's attention. In fact, the slowly orbiting tentacle snaps instead to study the gel intensely.
Soundwave himself also kneels in order to get a closer look a the technoplasm is put through it's paces. Two more of his feelers undock, and continue scanning for everything from composition, to conductivity, and any other question Soundwave could think of in between. The subversive, and combat implications for something like that were staggering!

Leaning down a bit further so that Soundwave's faceplate was close enough for it, text flashed up onto the screen. ]

Designation: Soundwave

Unknown Substance "Technoplasm" acceptable. Requires study.
Increased Quantity requested.

Query: Storage device uses gravitational compression?

[ Your ring, Thad. That's also something Soundwave is familiar with. ]

Proposal accepted. Terms of agreement negotiable_

[Thad keeps an eye on those feelers, curious about them as well as making sure they're not about to turn hostile. Some of the materials that make up the technoplasm definitely didn't come from Earth and the science that created it is beyond what humans are capable of. It's currently in a non-conductive mode but it can be altered.

Thad appreciates the text far more than he did the recorded voices. He concentrates and 'dreams' up a glass container. As much as he dislikes the process, he can't deny it's been useful. Letting the Technoplasm pour into the container, the speedster nods.]

This model does. I only have a small amount of Technoplasm at this time. With proper resources and facilities I will be able to create more. Proper computers can also make better programming possible.

[Once the gel has poured completely into the container, Thad closes it up and holds it up to the Decepticon.]

Very good.

[ One of said feelers plucks the container offered out of Thad's hands, and retracts a bit for one more periphery scan. He'd need to get it back to his small stockpile of equipment to test it properly.

But now for Thad's part of the deal. ]

Analysis, recorded video, audio data from unknown location.
Codename: Unnatural.

[ Even with his faceplate obviously turned to inspect the container of technoplasm, a second feeler moves up to a small slot behind Soundwave's antennae array, and withdraws a datapad. Downloading swiftly, and efficiently to it, Soundwave's faceplate only turns to "look at" Thad lon enough to display a line of text; ]

Human data storage device requested.

[ Because he knew that human technology was often very primitive, and inefficient in comparison to Cybertronian. Still, Thad couldn't very well read Cybertronian, could he? ]

[Thad quirked a bow when that datapad was brought out. It seemed like an odd place to store them to him but he withheld his comments. The text received a nod in reply and Thad concentrated on dreaming up his own variation of a datapad. Not as interesting to look at as Soundwave's but served a similar function for recording things back home.]

Here.

[The blond nodded and held the pad out. He couldn't read Cybertronian but he was thinking about trying to learn at some point.]

[ It's a bit like putting a pencil behind your ear, actually. Never make the analogy to his faceplate though, because Soundwave's superiority complex does not take well to being compared to a human. ]

Infrared visuals compromised. Accurate count of individual fleshlings unknown.

[ He still hated admitting his faults...but it might account for the willingness to include a language pack for basic English, French, and Spanish conversions of Cybertronian secondary language in the relay.

There. Now Thad has an ( almost ) complete copy of Soundwave's files. What? You didn't think he'd give up every bit of data on the first meeting, did you? ]

Sybstance: Technoplasm, requested research, and development data.

[Thad never understood doing that either so the analogy likely won't ever come from him.]

I suspect they have more than just fleshlings within. It seems likely they have mechanical beings as well as other creatures that wouldn't show up on infrared.

[Thad looks the pad as he gets it back.]

Development data is recorded in the Technoplasm itself. It will adapt to any dataport so downloading won't be a problem.

[ Soundwave visibly perks up a little at that, and uses one of his servos ( fingers ) to pop the lid off the container. His feeler gently rotated the container, and the liquid within...but as tempting as it was, he was cautious by nature.

First, his datapad is given a small command, and used to induce an electric charge. The green stuff seemed to catch on, and adapted to fit the Cybertronian-made datapad.

Soundwave was as close to 'happy' as he ever came. ]

Query: Substance durability?

Reply

[Action!] reverse_impulse November 2 2011, 02:11:11 UTC
It's as durable as any other nanotechnology. The exact limits are listed within the development data. Extreme cold and highspeed vibrations are its largest vulnerabilities. Technoplasm constructs can become far more durable with proper programming though.

[ Goodness. Not unlike Cybertronian weaknesses. A fact which Soundwave demonstrates when he pours the green goo out again, into the "palm" of one large, and very flat wing-tip shaped "hands" so that it could be put through it's paces in reverse;
First the replica of Thad, then each of it's geometric shapes in rapid succession. If he reverse engineered this stuff right, it would be the best tool her had in his arsenal--

...Oh yes. The human is still here. Soundwave let the Technoplasm settle into it's neutral gel form in his hand, and looked up at Thad as he poured it back into the container, and sealed it. ]

Transfer complete.

[ Starting to stand up, and leave unless Thad has something else to say about it.
...He really is a bot of few words. ]

[Thad watches the demonstration with disinterest. He nods when things finish, brushing a hand through his hair.]

Very well. I will be in touch after I create more Technoplasm. Hopefully this arrangement will lead to an exit from this absurd city sooner rather than later.

[With little more than another nod, Thad turns. And suddenly, he's gone in a blur of green and black.]
