From yourself? Then how do you make it stick? Blood? Or do you create magic in the object? The crafting? Or is it from someone or something else?

For sigils and runes, they are carved to object or body with a knife. For the charms, magic is cast upon them. Magic of ones own in the shape of a grimoire is not required for the first, but is for the second.
