[For once, the video feed coming from Elijah's PORTAL appears to be wholly intentional.] Right. Uh. [He glances away from the camera for a moment, rubbing the back of his neck; he's clearly still not used to addressing others with this thing.] I'm sure some of y'all already know this, but back where I'm from, we got these critters called fey- ( Read more... )

[There's a fundamental flaw to your question, buddy, since the dominant species on his planet is probably fey by your definition. A troll with horns out to here peers at you through the screen, utterly confused.]

Uh... how do we know what kinds of, uh, critters you mean? There are stories about, uhhhh, rainbow drinkers. But I don't know if they're real.

[Yes, such a species very well would be. Elijah decides to keep that to himself for now, though he can't help answering with a raised eyebrow.]

Well, ah... Anything that might be considered magic, or unusual in some kinda way, but-rainbow drinkers? [The hell.] What're those s'posed to be?

[He's totally oblivious to your eyebrow raising, Elijah]

Well, uh, magic doesn't exist on Alternia, I don't think? Except that there was lots of magic in the game we played after our world was, uh, destroyed. So I guess you mean imps?

Rainbow drinkers are trolls who are, uhhhh, undead, and they drink troll blood, and can go out in the day.

[That sounds...completely not like anything he was expecting to hear.] Uh. Huh.

Well, uh... How 'bout them imps? You know anything else about them?

Uhhhhh, I don't know if you'll understand, but I'll try.

They're, uh, game constructs, I guess? We killed them and gathered grist and other materials, to make things out of. And to level up our echeladders, of course. They would change and get new abilities, whenever a new person entered the game.

[Uhhh.]

So...wait a minute. You're sayin' these things are just part of some kinda game?

That's right.

Uh, a kind of game that, uh, destroyed our world, and which we played to try to fix things. Uh...it was very real, but also a game.

Uh...huh. [He's honestly not sure what to make of that.] Well, uh... That makes them critters real? Or not?

I don't know, how to tell the difference, to be honest.

Right... Well, real or not, guess that don't make a difference if they can end up showin' up here.

No, uh, I wouldn't think it would make a difference. There are a lot of trolls here, so I guess the chances are sort of high.

[Trolls, huh.] How many-a you are there, exactly? Well-anyone from your home world, I guess.

Uhhhh, I think there are about ten of us, yeah. Plus a few humans that we know, but they're not from our universe, of course.
